I mean as Queen or future Queen next in line for succession.

I wouldn't! Not worth all the riches in the world to live in a gilded cage under hugely intense scrutiny. I think it would be a very boring and at the same time highly anxiety-inducing life. And the worst part would be knowing my children would be trapped in it also.

I would rather be my average self, living up north in a terrace house and working full time to pay the bills, but with relative anonymity and freedom. I'm sure if I were in a worse situation in life I would be happy to swap but without huge worries about food and shelter I wouldn't.

YABU - yes I would love to be Queen
YANBU - no, I'd hate it too

In our RF - not a chance! This country has no sense of proportion about them at all

scandinavian bicycling ones look ok though. Denmark don’t even bother with a coronation - just announced the new king from the balcony of the palace when his mother abdicated

DemBonesDemBones · 14/03/2024 17:46

Yes of course!

Oh yes please! No cooking, cleaning, worrying about money. The best health care, someone to do my makeup and hair. I’d be happy to open the odd library and spend the rest of my days riding horses and walking my dog on my estate!

All well and good, but would you like being stalked and printed in the national media? I'm poor and anon and I'd prefer that tbh

Become queen. Sign a law declaring a socialist republic in perpetuity. Abdicate. Job done. I'd quite enjoy that 😁

Trulyme · 14/03/2024 18:16

No way!

I am pro-Harry simply because I would have done the same thing as he has done.

Yes living in a palace and never worrying about money would be nice but no amount of money is worth your freedom or privacy.

No not at all… I feel quite sorry for those born into it.

Not being able to go for a walk, go to the supermarket, just leave the house looking like dogs breakfast sounds so stifling…. How do you raise a kid in this fake world yet is meant to represent the world 🌎

They do all those normal activities, more than we realise.

RedHelenB · 14/03/2024 18:27

Think of all over he places you'd go and people you'd meet. Best quality everything. I don't think it's as bad as you make out. Plus you could abdicate at the any time

MotherOfVizslas · 14/03/2024 18:29

No. I like being able to nip down to the shop with no makeup on to buy chocolate, without being papped and judged for it!!

Evaka · 14/03/2024 18:33

I'd much rather enjoy the good income I have from hard and interesting work. Such a weird life.

MuggedByReality · 14/03/2024 18:42

No chance, for several reasons.

Firstly, I’m a republican. I support the abolition of the monarchy and its replacement by a democratically elected head of state.

Secondly, I am a private person, I value my anonymity and I have no desire to be a public figure.

Thirdly, I have firmly held political views, some of which could be described as ‘anti-establishment’ and I would not be willing to be identified with causes with which I disagreed, particularly anything concerned with the military or certain aspects of UK foreign policy.
