Colleague stole my chair and is eating monster munch

Ok the chair thing I sort of get - we don't have our own desks just hot desk but i was at this desk yesterday and this morning the chair was gone - so I'm left with a wonky chair. Management problem really there are not enough "working chairs". The monster munch is getting on my nerves though. So noisy wit the packet and then the chewing and it's v early for eating that kind of stuff isn't it .

Love monster munch - haven't had it for years though.

spectacularly misses point of thread

MississippiAF · 08/03/2024 10:31

It’s not your chair if you hot desk.

Monster Munch are elite. Join them

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 08/03/2024 10:32

Swap chairs back as soon as they go for a toilet break. Re the monster munch, print out the most lurid article you can find about UPF and leave it on their new wonky chair..?! 😬

(obviously I'm not being serious and in hot desking situations it's a bit of a free for all, first come first serve...)

LibbyLemoncake · 08/03/2024 10:32

Ooooh monster munch 🤩

Revelatio · 08/03/2024 10:33

Are they pickled onion?

StopTheBusINeedAWeeWeeAWeeWeeBagOChips · 08/03/2024 10:34

Depends on the flavour of monster munch tbh.

Beef - put in a complaint.

Pickled onion - ask for one.

Elleviss · 08/03/2024 10:34

Wonky chair and the stench of monster munch = 🤢

sleepylittlebunnies · 08/03/2024 10:38

There’s only about 6 crisps in a packet of Monster Munch now so they’ll soon be gone 😆. When hit dealing so they not still have a responsibility to carry out a workstation assessment and provide working equipment?

ColleenDonaghy · 08/03/2024 10:48

First come first serve with the good chair I'm afraid.

Mmm monster munch...

KimberleyClark · 08/03/2024 10:48

How does hot desking work from a health and safety perspective? DSE (Display Screen Equipment) workstation assessments are a legal requirement - I used to do them.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/03/2024 10:49

Monster munch is stinky dreadful
At lunchtime, nick the chair back and have egg and pilchard sarnies.

We have patronising pieces of paper taped to the desks telling you how to adjust your desk.

It's a PITA.

As for the monster munch, I'd go out and buy something really loud and crunchy to eat for lunch.

The lingering aroma will not be gone though. This would make me dry boak and possibly then projectile vomit into the colleagues bag. Oops, sorry.

OliveTapenade · 08/03/2024 10:56

So weird that you think you can control which chair someone sits in, and what they can eat.

KreedKafer · 08/03/2024 10:57

You sound a lot more difficult to work with than your colleague.

Springdeclutter · 08/03/2024 11:01

There shouldn’t be any bad chairs if you have proper health and safety workplace type stuff in place. Who’s responsible for that area, see them, get the chair replaced. It won’t happen today but if there’s a duff chair it needs sorting

It's been a while, but back when my employer introduced so called hot-desking people who had specific requirements that needed alterations had their own desk, everyone else fought over the remainder. There was a rule that once you bagged a desk it was yours for the day 'til you left.
Any dodgy chairs, and there was always a few, were swapped around and left at the last few desks by early arrivers.

It must be a family size sharing bag as it's been going on for at least half an hour! I know the hotdesking is a joke tbf. I'd say 50% of the desks don't "work" so you can't plug your laptop in but have to hunch over it all day. Some people have started coming in at 8 or earlier to get a working desk or chair. We have complained so many times but nothing is done. My back is aching from this silly chair I have today

Yeh been there done that got the t shirt. Nothing changes. A lot of the chairs are massive and no use for short legs like mine! And then others just are half broke

Tell your manager you will be working from home until they can guarantee you a working chair that will not cause you health issue with sitting incorrectly.
Have they had occupational health out to do a review.

Monster munch are fabulous, get on board !!

Soonenough · 08/03/2024 11:11

Monster munch before 2pm should be a sacking offense . Then you can get the chair back . Alternatively bring a deck chair , towel and just work from your phone ot tablet.

TeaKitten · 08/03/2024 11:12

Colleague got there earlier than you and swapped a dodgy chair for a working one, literally nothing wrong with that when it’s not your desk or chair!

Monster munch are great and it’s never too early for crisps. Complain about not enough chairs to the manager though.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/03/2024 11:16

Now I want some Monster Munch, only the ones in the yellow packet though.

They got the chair first and it sounds like it was fair and square, but if it’s really pissing you off you could sneakily swap chairs when they next go to the loo!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 08/03/2024 11:19

I feel your pain, OP. It used to be having to listen to Radio 1 all day at work that sent me demented. How do you know it's her whose got 'your' chair? Don't they all look the same? Are you possibly projecting because of the MM? But anyway, I would swap when someone was away from their desk. actually I'm sure I wouldn't, for fear of being caught But deffo go for the egg and sardine sandwiches option.

tootyflooty · 08/03/2024 11:23

Can't comment on the early time to be eating monster munch, given I ate cold left over curry at my desk at 8.30 this morning followed by Colin the caterpillar birthday cake, however I would loudly protest at the wonky chair
