I'm about to spend a lot on 3 tickets for DH and DC. Is it worth it? (we are all big fans, it's just an eye watering amount) We would only do it once!

Yes. Great story, best special effects I’ve ever seen on stage

Ohiwish12 · 07/03/2024 20:42

I loved it and would watch again when funds allow

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 07/03/2024 20:42

Have you read the book / play?

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 20:43

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts yes!

It is amazing. I only went as hubby wanted to, didn't have high hopes, but it was brilliantly done.
Got tickets on black Friday on 2 for 1 deal. So paid £160 for 2 people for both shows, which I think was quite reasonable

britespark1 · 07/03/2024 20:46

Definitely worth it! My DH and I both adored it and he’s not even a HP fan 😂

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 07/03/2024 20:49

If you enjoyed the book: yes, it’s probably worth it. At least imo!

I hope you’ll enjoy it! :)

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 20:50

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts oh i did, couldn't put it down! Thank you :)

Right, I'm booking!

MalteserGeezee · 07/03/2024 20:53

It's a spectacular show, some moments of genuine "magic", but the plot is a bit of a travesty in my opinion, and drives a coach and horses through canon!

Stormbornform · 07/03/2024 20:53

Best theatre show I've seen

SellFridges · 07/03/2024 20:55

Wonderful show but I have never been convinced about the story. Husband and I went to a preview, we took DD when she was about 8 and then we all went back last year when DS turned 8.

We are a big Potter family and its wonderfully done.

EVHead · 07/03/2024 20:56

Loved it! It was so exciting.

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 20:59

Thanks all.

Im going to book row G in the stalls as I have heard this is the best for views. Has anyone sat closer/further away and would recommend? I have heard front row of the dress circle is also one of the best

It was amazing when I went (but yes bloody pricy, and a bit of a con you have to pay for two plays just to see both parts).

PaulGalico1 · 07/03/2024 21:03

I took my son (HP fan) a few years ago. He loved it so worth going. In all honesty it wasn't for me. I guess you are seeing both parts on the same day? Don't forget to book somewhere to eat between part 1&2.

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 21:04

@PaulGalico1 yes, I have read it's best to see both parts the same day?

weywardwoman · 07/03/2024 21:05

We just went a last month and it was brilliant. My 7 year old was mesmerised.

VictoriaPink · 07/03/2024 21:08

It was awesome. Definitely worth it.

Mapletreelane · 07/03/2024 21:09

I quite enjoyed it. I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan. The theatrecraft and staging were incredible , however didn't like the story, Harry Potter was a bit of a dick!

We did Part 1 on Friday and part 2 on the Saturday and I'm really glad we did it that way. Kids were 12 and 15. They enjoyed it.

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 21:11

@Mapletreelane can I ask why you liked it on two days? Would it have been a bit much all in one day? I have heard it leaves on a big cliffhanger!

SqueezedMiddleTummy · 07/03/2024 21:12

I’ve seen it 3 times once in the front row of the dress circle and once in the front row of the stalls plus the very back of the grand circle or whatever the very top of this theatre is called.
Both sets of front row tickets I won lottery tickets for. My favourite was front row of stalls, we couldn’t see feet and missed one bit of magic that took place right at the back of the stage so I’d say row G would be perfect.
that said I don’t think any theatre ticket is worth the top price of the prices they charge but I am on a tight budget and only ever go when there are deals on or I win cheap lottery/rush tickets. If you can afford it go for it!

SqueezedMiddleTummy · 07/03/2024 21:14

PS I have seen it each time on the same day with primary aged kids and it’s been great, went for a meal and a wander in between. Wouldn’t want to travel into London twice in 2 days as we live close enough it’s not worth staying.

AngryBird6122 · 07/03/2024 21:14

@SqueezedMiddleTummy been waiting a few years to go so been saving here and there for it! It's a once in a lifetime thing for us so I just want the best seats I can! It does make me wince though to be honest

OP posts:
honeyandbutterontoast · 07/03/2024 21:16

Went a few years ago and did both in one day. Tbh I think I would rather have had a break between. The seats we had (cheap ones) were a bit uncomfortable to do that much sitting in a day. I found the second part not quite as good as the first part, in fact I actually fell asleep for some of it. Which was a bit embarrassing 😳

DD and I both massive Potter fans so we enjoyed it but probably not the best thing I’ve seen.
