Please calm me, anxious mu
At around 3, when my 5 year old was getting in the car, the wind blew hard as I was helping her and the car door hit her head. It looked quite hard and she cried a lot. It has a small bump there and she says tender to touch. She was ok afterwards, but half an hour ago said she had tummy ache and has just vomited and is now lay down looking pale. She v v rarely vomits. There is lots going around, but I’m getting really an iI’d it could be connected to her head?
Please can anyone advise? 🙏

Yes, straight to the hospital to get her checked over.

Didisquat · 07/03/2024 17:17

Yes this happened to my son and was concussion. They kept him for 6 hours to observe him and then he could go home. They took him on blue lights so you really need to go

Mmhmmn · 07/03/2024 17:17

Just that she’s hit her head and then vomited and she rarely vomits.

BMW6 · 07/03/2024 17:18

A&E now

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 07/03/2024 17:18

Yeah you do need to get her checked.

Hoardasurass · 07/03/2024 17:18

She's probably got a concussion, you need to take her to the hospital to get her checked and confirmed incase its something worse

Red2017 · 07/03/2024 17:18

I'd take her to the hospital based on your post. Hope she's okay.

noctilucentcloud · 07/03/2024 17:20

A&E - the NHS advice is if you have vomited after a head injury go to A&E. It's better to be safe than sorry with head injuries.

hulahoopqueen · 07/03/2024 17:20

Hospital here too. If it helps though, we had the same with DSS when he was 4, bump to the head then sickness around 2 hours later. Hospital observed but he didn't need any intervention and we were home within 8 hours.

Latenightanxiety · 07/03/2024 17:23

Hope she’s ok x

mefornow · 07/03/2024 17:23

Just to reassure though… kids can vomit after a head injury. It wouldn’t warrant a head scan unless they’ve vomited 3 times in children as they are more likely to vomit than adults (in the absence of anything else that is worrying). So please take for check over if you are worried but don’t be surprised if they don’t do much more than observe for a bit and send you home again x

UpsideLeft · 07/03/2024 17:24

Always go to A&E with a head injury especially if they feel sick, vomiting etc etc

AnneShirleysNewDress · 07/03/2024 17:25

Definitely go to the hospital. Hope she and you are ok.

ButterCrackers · 07/03/2024 17:25

Go straight to A&E.

OrlandointheWilderness · 07/03/2024 18:38

Absolutely A&E. she's been sick after a head injury. Absolute basics.

CreamOrJamFirst · 07/03/2024 18:39

Hospital

Maray1967 · 07/03/2024 18:41

Any vomiting after a head injury means hospital visit - immediately.

Rosiiee · 07/03/2024 18:44

This happened to my DS recently. Except he was extremely drowsy too. They just said he had a concussion but didn’t do any scans. If he’d been continuously vomiting or in and out of consciousness then they would’ve. I think the protocol is just observation for a few hours. Good luck x

RadRad · 07/03/2024 18:52

A&E for sure

ThisReallyDoesntAddUp · 07/03/2024 18:54

Take her, the same thing happened to an adult friend of mine and she had concussion. It affected her for over a month so it needs checking out x

Topjoe19 · 07/03/2024 18:56

Just take her. You won't rest for worrying otherwise. Hope she's ok

Beachcomber · 07/03/2024 19:01

Yes you must get her checked at hospital.

My DD hit hear head went to hospital as she needed stitches. They told us to come back immediately if she vomited.

She did vomit and we went back. She was kept in overnight. All ended up fine but they really insisted that she needed to be seen. Good luck.
