That was DH's order at a big family dinner a few weeks ago.

I dont particularly like either of those so would never do that personally but I have a very much live and let live attitude to food combinations, I don't think it matters as long as no one is inconvenienced or forced to eat something they don't like

OhmygodDont · 06/03/2024 19:18

Yeah that’s weird a kebab goes with a beer lets face it.

Cas112 · 06/03/2024 19:21

My partner put salad cream on a plate with beans the other day so tbh in comparison I wouldn't think twice about a hot chocolate with a kebab😂

Gibs0nGirl · 06/03/2024 19:21

Once went to a friends, she had made a really hot curry, and served it with tea or coffee. It was so bloody weird.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 06/03/2024 19:40

Yes, properly weird. I can't understand any hot drink with savoury food.

Not even tea with a full English?!

Sparklesocks · 06/03/2024 19:43

This is my favourite MN title today 😄

Waitingfordoggo · 06/03/2024 19:44

Yes, that is weird, the only food I’d accompany with hot chocolate would be cake.

Eminybob · 06/03/2024 19:47

I would have a cup of tea with a fry up or fish and chips. Nothing else.

I was going to say hot chocolate with a meal is weird due to the sweet/savory element, however I quite happily have a milkshake with my maccy d's. Even go as far as dipping my chips in, so what do I know 🤷‍♀️

HappierTimesAhead · 06/03/2024 19:48

So weird! Although did he wait and have the hot chocolate after, like a desert?

SheepAndSword · 06/03/2024 19:49

Doesn't seem like the most obvious choice

I had an ex whose family drank tea with every meal. Very strange!!

HappierTimesAhead · 06/03/2024 19:50

I once ate a curry while in a hot bath and that was a really weird experience. I was pregnant and it seemed like a good idea at the time....

CrushingOnRubies · 06/03/2024 19:53

My dads go to drinks with fish & chips is a cup of tea
Don't see the appeal somehow

No, he literally sipped it along with his olives, tzatziki, hummus and pitta, and then the kebabs and chicken wings.

NoNailsPls · 06/03/2024 19:54

Totally.

To me it's weird to have any sort of milky hot drink with a savoury food. Sugary hot chocolate is a step even worse than that!

Green tea with Japanese food is my only hot drink with a meal exception.

Edited

Okay, that's off the scale weird

ScottBakula · 06/03/2024 20:17

Each to their own but that does seem odd
I tend to have coffee with my meals or cider occasionally

I would have a hot chocolate later on , more like a dessert

therealcookiemonster · 06/03/2024 20:19

no coming back from this. sorry OP

You think that drinking tea with curry is weird? A billion Indian people would like a word.

Justlovedogs · 06/03/2024 20:24

Wouldn't be my first choice, but we're in the tea with everything camp, so 🤷‍♀️ each to their own.

Noshowlomo · 06/03/2024 20:27

I had a hot chocolate with my mcds yesterday. I was freezing and it was lush

Noicant · 06/03/2024 20:28

I like a cup of tea with pasta, can’t explain why.

I imagine he likes the mix of spice and sweetness….can (almost) see how that would work. Like chocolate in a chili con carne (kind of)

Can't stop laughing at this 🤣. How random.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 06/03/2024 20:30

No full English is included. Just can't do hot drink and savoury. Full English would need juice. A hot drink with a biscuit or scone but that's where I draw the line. I'm a big tea drinker but would have to have tea before food at breakfast.
