To think it's weird to have a hot chocolate with a kebab

That was DH's order at a big family dinner a few weeks ago.

I love hot chocolate with savoury food, crisps or bombay mix usually. Sweet stuff like biscuits is too much sweetness, it needs savoury to complement it. Never thought of a kebab. I don't eat meat, but if I did I'd say good call!

Sapphire387 · 06/03/2024 20:51

YABU to still be thinking about this, weeks later! But otherwise, YANBU, his choice is WEIRD.

Gibs0nGirl · 06/03/2024 21:22

I guess @Geebray but a hot drink with a meal is 🤢 to me. I was dying of thirst!

BarbieDangerous · 06/03/2024 21:26

I don’t really see the problem. A drink is a drink, does it matter what you have it with?

Untethered · 06/03/2024 21:31

We had home made lamb shish kebabs with FLGV for dinner. I had hot chocolate afterwards as I don’t like tea or coffee before bed but like a drink.

tigerinthejungle · 06/03/2024 21:32

Who on earth would still be MN boggling at this though, 6 weeks on?

SuperMaria · 06/03/2024 21:33

Not really weird. If it's one of those combined cafe and kebab (and everything) places then you'd order a hot choc, almost like a starter, and then they bring out the food.

MissChristie · 06/03/2024 21:34

It doesn't matter really, we all have a weird combo. I had a long Smash and salad cream sandwiches era.

maras2 · 06/03/2024 21:43

I've just eaten egg and chips with a side of Ovaltine.
I'm dog rough though.😁

igetwhatyoumean · 06/03/2024 22:08

My OH will drink a mug of soup from one hand with a cup of tea in the other 🤢

SneakyGremlin · 06/03/2024 22:16

I like a hot chocolate with whipped cream served with a greasy doner kebab and all the trimmings Grin

ShouldIEvenBother · 06/03/2024 22:25

I have a cup of tea with every meal, regardless of what meal it is. Hot chocolate with a meal sounds wonderfully decadent to me. I know, I know, you all think it's weird... 😂

Tea with a spicy curry is excellent - it's better than drinking water to soothe the hot flavours!

YouAndMeAndThem · 06/03/2024 22:37

Sorry but anyone who drinks hot chocolate give me the ick. Especially men 🤢🤢

Hot chocolate is gendered now? Hmm

My dads go to drinks with fish & chips is a cup of tea
Don't see the appeal somehow

@CrushingOnRubies

its the law!! You have to have a cuppa with  & chips!! Unless you're at the beach, then it's a can of coke.

i think the tea cleanses your mouth of the grease!

SpringSprungALeak · 06/03/2024 22:43

3bagsofwool · 06/03/2024 19:53

No, he literally sipped it along with his olives, tzatziki, hummus and pitta, and then the kebabs and chicken wings.

@3bagsofwool

& it's taken you this long to come to us??? Yes, you need to LTB, that's just revolting!!

My partner put salad cream on a plate with beans the other day so tbh in comparison I wouldn't think twice about a hot chocolate with a kebab😂

Argh, but what if the sauces MIX??!! Shock

FOJN · 06/03/2024 22:46

It's an unusual combination but I don't think it's as weird as someone else posting about it weeks after the event.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/03/2024 22:49

You've married a bloody maniac.

noooooooo · 06/03/2024 22:50

I’m married to another ‘tea with everything’ type. Tea and potatoes (not chips, boiled or roast potatoes) makes zero sense to me. Hot chocolate and a kebab is not a conventional combination but it’s him who’s got to eat/drink it I suppose. It’s sort of childlike. I’d be more perplexed if I’d served a big Turkish dinner and he started fittering with the kettle and the sachets than if he just ordered it from the waiter/deliveroo, cos sometimes we fancy what we fancy and that’s the joy of someone else making it.

Fifiesta · 06/03/2024 22:55

So many drinks police out tonight.
I drink wine with ice, go me!

I get this! Or I did until I had a crush on a guy who liked a mocha 🤣

RealRubyBee · 06/03/2024 23:01

i usually have a cuppa tea and a kabab

fancypants1989 · 06/03/2024 23:08

My other half enjoyed oysters and a latte at an oyster bar in Scotland 🤮

zigzag20 · 06/03/2024 23:13

It's not like you're having it. Each to their own.
