Top Gun Maverick

Ffs I was not expecting the emotional punch from this. Top Gun is my all time favourite film having watched it at age 11/12 and wanting to be Maverick. A dream denied by asthma alas. I'm watching Maverick with ds who has shown a sudden interest in planes. I'm a way behind I know. I didn't know there'd be so many references and clips and links to the original. I didn't pay much attention to all the hype when I came out. I bawl every time Goose smacks his head and did it again 35 years later about half an hour ago. Ds is concerned 😬
No film has ever stirred my blood like Top Gun but planes are in my soul.
I've not got to the end of Maverick yet so there might be more tears. My adrenaline is pumping.
Any other big fans of the original have a similar reaction? I know there'll be those saying it's shite but his I love it.

I still think though, that if they are making Top Gun 3, they ought to have Robbie Amell appear as Mav's son he never knew existed (from his relationship with Kelly McGillis).
He's 61. She's 66. They appeared together on screen 1986.
Robbie Amell is 35, born in 1988. It's close enough.
He is the spitting image of Tom.

Storyline - Robbie has been a flight instructor elsewhere (let's say Canada, why not?) and Charlie finally tells him who his real father was. She didn't before as she'd moved on/didn't know herself/has only found out after the death of her husband. She always adored Mav but he'd broken her heart/was reckless so she kept quiet.
Oh and bring back Kelly for a dramatic angry scene while you're about it!

for me it was the tear moment when the enemy plane was chasing them and mav was climbing over the sea and then says sorry goose just as the enemy locks on
