Can tell the lurgy is about to get me, loads of colleagues have got it this week and I’ve felt knackered today, achy, head ache… please tell me your tips to help it go away quickly?!

Rub some margarine into it.

Cloud44 · 14/02/2024 18:31

😂😂😂

Conkersinautumn · 14/02/2024 18:34

It won't cure it. But a hot ginger wine with lemon and honey in it (or heating mead with ginger and lemon) can make you feel better (not suitable if you're driving nor possibly AT work though).

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 14/02/2024 18:34

Hot whiskey, got to be Irish whiskey.

Hot food. As in chilli hot. The hotter the better. The level of heat which makes your nose run. Best cure ever but I appreciate it's not to everyone's liking!

TwilightSkies · 14/02/2024 18:35

Sleep. Hot liquids. Rest. Paracetamol. Shower regularly.

EcstaticMarmalade · 14/02/2024 18:35

Squeeze two lemons into a glass and then immediately have a nap.

Cloud44 · 14/02/2024 18:36

Haha @LeggyLinda still good to know for cold sores!

Oh and a hot bath and an early night.

You won't care after, that as you will be so blissed out. 😂

😂😂😂😂😂😂
Imagining the OP sticking margarine up her nose, rubbing it on her head, etc 😂

Berocca in the mornings, menthol oil dissolved in hot water in the bedroom at night, paracetamol.

I was just about to tell her to put neat tea tree oil on it.

I should have also said knock back the lemon juice.

I was wondering what you do with the lemon juice!! 😂😂
This thread is great already

Lol @EcstaticMarmalade if nothing else this post is actually making me chuckle a little!!

I’ve always found Beechams powders (the type that come in a little envelope) the best thing for treating cold symptoms. And Pulmo Bailly for a cough (it tastes foul, like a proper old fashioned medicine, but it does work).

effoffwind · 14/02/2024 18:43

Well thanks very much ladies

I'm now sat naked covered in the best Stork margarine
Staring at a glass of 2 squeezed lemons , wondering how I'll get into bed in this state

Don't believe anything you read on the internet 😩

Punxsatawnyphil · 14/02/2024 18:44

Drugs and sleep. Hot drinks, vitamin C.

Stringagal · 14/02/2024 18:45

Echinacea! The first sign of a sniffle and I’m double dropping them.

shellyleppard · 14/02/2024 18:46

Op..... vitamin c, zinc and echinacea cold remedy at the first sign of the sniffles...... stock up on tissue's and food in case you get really bad x

canttellyouwhereorwhatido · 14/02/2024 18:46

That awful awful concoction called 'night nurse ' .. so unbelievably foul it works like a barometer for how ill I actually am ..

If I can bring myself to drink it then I need it .. if I can't then I'm not that bad !

Cloud44 · 14/02/2024 18:48

Ive taken echinacea today and Vicks first defence spray, I’m hoping it kicks in and saves the day!

OldGreyBoots · 14/02/2024 18:48

The only thing that helps me is water, loads and loads of it - I'm usually a bit rubbish at staying hydrated but I make sure to do it when I have a cold! Seems to help stop your nose from getting quite so blocked Flowers

Cloud44 · 14/02/2024 18:48

There seems to be so many bugs around this time of year which are a pain!
