It's bad enough I have to work evey other Sunday anyway, but Elaine Paige's laugh makes me shudder!

AIBU to think that having to listen to her and her show tunes is just adding to my misery today?

I love show tunes, but Elaine Paige's awful gurgling laugh makes me murderous.

It could be good and it has been when Samantha Barks stands in. Elaine's laugh is shocking, and I noticed that Liza Tarbuck also does it. I've got R6 on here.

Aw, I like her, and the show. Apart from the stupid stage blunders she gets people to send in, I always skip those bits when I listen on catch up.

Rather have her than Zoe, switched off as soon as she got the morning show

Never heard it, but surely can't be as bad as Amanda Holden's cackle on Heart Breakfast.

Get earphones for your phone. EP and showtunes was a form of self flagellation for me until I finally got help!

What drives me mad is when she says 'X has recorded this song but I think we will play my version instead' when X is someone with an amazing voice

No Elaine we want to hear the person who sings it better than you

I'd rather listen to EP for a whole day straight than one hour of the dreadful Gary Davies, who you just can't escape on R2.

Oh I'd forgotten this. Had years of driving back from relatives listening to her show on a Sunday and in hooked disbelief at the giggle. Agree Michael Ball much better! It was like a compulsion to force myself to sit through it and see how many times she would do it over the course of the show/journey.

R2 on Sunday is dire except for Johnny Walker.

I must admit that I was sad when I heard that Ken Bruce was leaving, but I am really enjoying Vernon Kay's show. The Piano Room performances have been absolutely brilliant.

Agree! Although Steve Wright's love songs show is also shockingly bad.

EP sounds like a rabid chipmunk when she does that chuckle/laugh! Michael Ball is great though - wish he was on longer instead

Sunday Radio 2 is terrible. It’s the only day I don’t listen.

I didn’t even look at the post - just saw the heading and knew it would be about the laugh. If it is her real laugh she has my sympathy but I suspect this is an affectation and it does my nut in.

I rather like Michael Ball .He sounds genuinely cheerful and has a good rapport with guests.And although I was very sceptical about Vernon K taking over I really enjoy his morning show.
Have to agree about EP though.I used to listen in occasionally but don't bear that show anymore,.And much as I've liked Zoe B in the past on TV don't listen to her in the mornings.Too gabbled and gushy.And have given up with afternoons too as Scott Mills show is just dull.

She must dent Johnie Walker's audience.

Yep awful awful awful. Much like the rest of Radio 2 now. I switch between Greatest Hits and The Times radio..... so much better.
