Have the radio on at work

It's bad enough I have to work evey other Sunday anyway, but Elaine Paige's laugh makes me shudder!

AIBU to think that having to listen to her and her show tunes is just adding to my misery today?

I like her laugh, she laughs like a drain as my dad would say

Im not overly keen on her though. Might be ok if she just laughed all the way through the show for me

I love show tunes but find EP deeply irritating.
I wish they’d find someone to do it instead of her.

Oh leave her to it, it makes her happy

The conversation always turns back to her…….always.
For example ‘now we’re going to play such a song by such a person…..it always reminds me of the time I played the lead role in Evita in 1984’.

And the laugh, it has to be put on, nobody laughs like that.

Sunday afternoons are the only time I turn Radio 2 off.

It's mainly the show songs that make me nauseous. I swear that show goes on forever. Whenever I go to my mum's on a Sunday it's on when I arrive at her house and it's still bloody going when I leave! Surely there are only so many cheesy, sickly show tunes?

I love Michael Ball's show. He was particularly fantastic during the pandemic.

Oh no i LOVE elaine paige! I think she's great although didnt realise that show was still going so obvs love her from afar haha

She's absolutely appalling. I hate the way she self-publicises, the sheer inanity of it all, and that bloody awful laugh. But she does have a purpose - because of some of the dross she plays, I know what musicals to avoid.

Can't bear her ; I put her in the same category of woman as Lorraine Kelly and Angela Rippon, boring me me me types who would trample over everyone to get to the top in life yet pretend to be nice.

I agree. I do like a musical but I find it awful. Generally I dislike radio 2 on a Sunday. Michael Ball is fine but everything else is terrible.

I feel murderous when EP laughs, and then when Liza Tarbuck did exactly the same laugh the other week ….! Can’t bear Michael Ball either, he’s so fake and sometimes quite nasty.

Thankfully I am oblivious to that. I refuse to watch or listen to anything with her in it, or read about her. She is the celeb person I dislike the most.

I love a show tune but can’t stand EP. My rack was permanently on R2 for years, but I’ve defected since Ken and Steve Wright went. I know SW is total marmite, but I’ve always
intended from his R1 days when I was in my teens and it was just easy comfort listening for me.

I now go between Greatest Hits-for Ken and Simon Mayo, and Virgin, although Chris Evan’s can get a bit much at times, but I hate the “local” content on Greatest Hits breakfast show
