A warning about snaochat!!

Hi everyone I wanted to post this as I’m currently going through a police investigation with starlking and at my interview to my personal statement the police officer spoke to me about what social media do I have and i mentioned jilts facebook WhatsApp and snaochat and this was her warning :

in so many cases of these young children,women getting hurt, or stalkers snaochat maps is normally found to be how the person is found. Even with it turned off there is 3rd party apps which people can use just your Snapchat name they don’t have to be your freiend and it will show your location

its also very hard to get any old messages that have been deleted back on Snapchat’s if needed for evidence

I think that although I was told due to an abusive ex with the tragic news story’s recently of teenagers it’s important to make parents awear of this on their teenagers phones.

@LetsgoLego Thanks, I was just checking as I occasionally worry I'm not up to date with privacy stuff, but that stuff is all not happening for me. I do a regular Google search as well.

I think I've misunderstood, so hoping for some clarification.
If you have Snapchat, and location sharing is disabled, if someone finds you by searching your username, would they be able to find your location using third party app?

Yes I’m not really sure how the police officer didn’t give me tips she just said it can be used and too disable it. I only created this thread as a year ago I thought of stalking as so rare but since it’s happened to me I want some people to be awear too. Im sorry I don’t have the facts it was more a warning from her I thought I’d pass on as ten agents relsky should t have a app on their phone that by using your name you can be viewed. Also the mall is really specific it can show if your listening to music on your phone in car walking sitting down (I guess if you haven’t moved in your house in a long time) it is really worrying this is probably old news to loads but I had no idea and there might be one other person in my position who it could have helped.
