My ds is 12 with complex sn's. School is very difficult and he has finally started doing some full days!!!

This week he did one full day and three half days!!!

I'm so proud of him. He has done so amazing and is spending more time with his friends which is incredible.

I'm a single mom and my mood hasn't been the best lately, feeling rundown but I have felt amazing this week.

My energy has been so much higher. I've gotten so much more done this week.

I feel so calm and he is so happy. 💞

That’s so lovely to read!

Mushroomwithaview · 02/02/2024 20:25

Well done to your DS, and well done to you for giving him the support he needs to do so well.

Soupsetanddefeated · 02/02/2024 20:25

Huge congratulations to you both. That sounds like amazing progress!!

Enjoy this, you have clearly worked hard to support him to get to this point so take a massive sense of pride in that.

Such a lovely, positive post ❤️

Dweetfidilove · 02/02/2024 20:25

Thats fantastic - long may that continue!

Make sure you’re looking after your health too 💐

ConcertaFirstTimer · 02/02/2024 20:25

That's lovely news. Sounds like he is starting to thrive and you can enjoy life a bit more. Congratulations. Every breakthrough is worth celebrating!

RM2013 · 02/02/2024 20:26

Lovely post and well done to you both

needlesandhaystacks · 02/02/2024 20:26

Lovely news! Well done to your lovely son!

SweetFemaleAttitude · 02/02/2024 20:27

Can't believe some people have voted you are being unreasonable. Twats.

That is lovely to read OP.

You must be feeling proud and fuzzy.

DahliasEverywhere · 02/02/2024 20:31

Not the same, but my son was a school refuser. I remember the same feeling of elation when he did a full day.

Namechangeforname · 02/02/2024 20:32

Well done to your ds! You’re a great mum. Hope you are treating yourself in some
way tonight

Josette77 · 02/02/2024 20:36

Thank you so much everyone!!! 💞

I cried reading these responses.

This year has been quite challenging so seeing progress is incredible, and seeing him proud of himself is everything.

Fantastic OP! I have a DS who also has SN and school is a challenge so I know how soul destroying it can be. Sending you huge congrats and hugs 🤗

I'm actually heading out shopping for a baby gift and maybe a little something for myself. 💞

To those with kids with sn's who can relate a huge hug back. 💞 I've been at this since kindergarten and I feel each and every one of you.

I always describe it as my soul is tired. It's a different exhausted than anything I've felt. It's like ongoing grief.

Now I'm crying thinking about all you amazing mums who struggle too! I know it doesn't always feel like it but you are doing amazing.

It's so much easier to recognize that when a breakthrough happens, but you really are survivors. 💐 If I wealthy I'd take us all on vacation. 😉

How lovely and congratulations! You've done amazingly well supporting your son to make so much progress (parent of ND DC here, not a school refuser but many other things over the years).

ToHellBackAndBeyond · 02/02/2024 21:00

That is lovely news 💐

Josette77 · 02/02/2024 22:57

Thank you both. 💐

Huge well done to your DS and you sound like the most supportive, loving mum too ❤️

PonyPatter44 · 02/02/2024 23:03

My child had a really sticky time with school - the feeling when they manage to do the "ordinary " stuff that every other kid seems to do every day is so brilliant! Well done to your DS I hope he builds on this success and starts to enjoy his time at school.

Aquamarine1029 · 02/02/2024 23:04

I am so, so happy for you. What amazing progress for your sweet boy. 💗

BobbyBiscuits · 02/02/2024 23:07

How awesome. Makes a nice change from many tales of woe on here. He (and you more importantly) deserves a big hug and a treat. I'm sure things will get even better. This is great progress : )

Merryoldgoat · 02/02/2024 23:07

That sounds fantastic OP - it’s so hard when worry is the default emotion - that constant high anxiety level is a killer.

I hope he continues to do as well ❤️

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 02/02/2024 23:08

That's amazing news! Huge congratulations to you both.

Slight warning, don't freak out if he takes a step back again. There can be lots of ups and downs on this road, but having reached this point once makes it easier the next time from what I've seen. It's huge progress and you should both be very proud.

Allthingsdecember · 02/02/2024 23:08

That’s so lovely 🙂. Congratulations to your son, and to you!

blackpanth · 02/02/2024 23:11

Aww congratulations to your son ❤
