What are some Items that have made your life better?

Am turning to MN for inspiration

It’s my 30th this year and the big trip DH and I had planned is off the cards due to DD (honestly the thought of taking this raccoon child on a plane fills me with nothing but anxiety) so I’ve now been asked what I want as my gift(s) instead of the trip.

These need to be good enough to make me not miss spending time on a beach in the Bahamas.

Im going down the route of items that are costly so I’ve never justified getting them for myself. Or just a bit frivolous but why not.

Only things I can think of atm is a Stanley straw cup (don’t even @ me I know it’s basic but I want a pretty one) and a ninja CREAMi as I love ice cream and always wanted an ice cream maker (and now we have the perfect size gap on the kitchen counter since DDs steriliser is no longer in use)

So wise women of MN. What items have made your life better, any products you wish you had got earlier in your life that has made such an impact on your day to day life or mood?

Actually I got a sage ice cream maker and I think it’s better than the creami! You just plug it in and it freezes the ice cream there and then and Churns it ect and it’s done with next to no prep! I find the dyson hair dryer was worth every cent (I have long hair!) and maybe you might also like a course of pricey face treatments? My friend got micro needling and her skin looks fab, it cost a few hundred for a course so it was pricey but worth it!

In no particular order:

Trampoline

Cartier Watch

Diamond stud earrings

Ipods

MacBook Pro

Vintage Vivienne Westwood handbag

Shawl from the Wool Company

Miss Dior Perfume

Kitchen Aid

Massage Gun

Bose Speakers

Electric Drum Kit

Have a great birthday.

Yummymummy2020 · 30/01/2024 15:29

Oh also I love my Stanley cup though I only use it at night in front of the telly with a ton of Ice in it! It keeps my drinks cold all night😂

HouseInTheMiddle · 30/01/2024 15:30

Happy 30th!!

We treated ourselves to a Sage Oracle Touch.

Its beautiful to look at, which was important to me as it takes up a chunk of counter space.

It easily gives me gorgeous coffee. Did not want my coffee to be another hobby.

ThreeTescoBags · 30/01/2024 15:37

Dyson airwrap. After 40 years my permanent twisty mum bun is no more, I have the bouncy Kate Middleton hair of my dreams! It's so idiot proof.

Alexander McQueen trainers. Really comfy and wear well.

Chisssweeze · 30/01/2024 15:38

@Yummymummy2020 ooh I will look into the Sage! I’m weak and just seen so many ads on Facebook for the CREAMi and been hooked!

@LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood as in a garden trampoline or like an exercise one for inside?

Thank you for the list some really great ideas in there!

Holidays without my kids changed my life tbh. Can’t you leave DD with family for a couple of nights and go somewhere fabulous?

I always love a handbag but experiences and travel are so much more valuable to me than ‘stuff’

Jingleballs2 · 30/01/2024 15:42

Robot hoover

Robot lawn mower 🤣

Mothership4two · 30/01/2024 15:42

Sadly and seriously a Ninja multicook thing. A Kindle. An Alexa which connects to my Spotify account - music on tap. A smaller car rather than the juggernauts I used to drive but I suspect that's just me (and it wasn't a present as such).

LunaNorth · 30/01/2024 15:42

Bluetooth eye mask.
Apple watch. I was sceptical but I adore it.
Chanel 19 perfume.
Swinging egg chair for the garden.
Prada sunglasses. They make me feel glam.
Bean to cup coffee machine.

QforCucumber · 30/01/2024 15:43

I bought DH the creami for Xmas and it's been used every weekend so far for milkshakes it is amazing! (the ice cream in it will come with time but milkshakes for him and the kids are so easy!) it comes with a little recipe book too, but ice-cream does need to be frozen overnight so it's not a quick thing

BouleDeSuif · 30/01/2024 15:44

I got a Vax hoover after using bloody lying bastard Shark and Henry and it's just beautiful.

Mothership4two · 30/01/2024 15:44

Sage Oracle Touch

That looks fab. Shame it's not by birthday yet

Barbarbaranne · 30/01/2024 15:46

Decent Jura coffee machine
Good mattress
Nutribullet
Audible/Spotify subscription
Bose soundbar
Kindle
Silk pillowcases
Good luggage
Noise cancelling headphones
Lots of different sports gear (pointless if you're not into it!)
Good wool coat
Good knives & decent pans/cookware

I'm sure there are more but these are things I've been able to afford in my 40 s that I wish I'd had sooner. Shit I'm old 🤣🤣

HamHand · 30/01/2024 15:46

@ThreeTescoBags What products are you using with the airwrap? I want to love mine but just can’t get my hair to hold any style

VoleChomper · 30/01/2024 15:49

I lolled at 'raccoon child'!

HamHand · 30/01/2024 15:50

Op is the trip defiantly off the cards? A shame if so. Since Covid I’ve had a week to myself once a year where DH holds the fort down and I really recommend it. It honestly saves me from burnout knowing I have it to look forward to. Nowhere fancy, I’ve been to London and recently had a cabin in a forest. Just the time to relax and have no one demanding anything from me is great.
In terms of things, I really rate my Bose headphones. I have AirPods but really struggle to keep them in my tiny ears! A fancy candle goes a long way, I love Neom Happiness or Diptyque 34. Elemis skincare has been a revelation to me too. I hope you manage to treat yourself whatever you decide x

Chisssweeze · 30/01/2024 15:51

@Youcannotbeseriousreally she is only one and doesn’t cope well with overnights (she does them but is the clingiest child for the week after coming back!) but for my 40th she’ll be shipped off to a mine for all I care!

OP posts:
Chisssweeze · 30/01/2024 15:52

ooh robot lawnmower sounds amazing…although it might be more of a gift for DH as I’ve not touched ours for nearly a decade Grin

OP posts:
Chisssweeze · 30/01/2024 15:54

@HamHand ooh I will look into the Bose as I had the same issue with the EarPods, my ears are so small and they hurt to keep in!

and yeah trip is off for now, she has only just turned one and isn’t great without me for long periods yet, she can do a night but even then she comes back and acts like I left her for a month with the child snatcher!

Make sure you go BIG for that!

@ThreeTescoBags What products are you using with the airwrap? I want to love mine but just can’t get my hair to hold any style

I use a mousse and pin it if I want actual curls, the smaller sections the better. It will hold for a night out but not days as I have really thick heavy hair.

Generally I use the round brush attachment to get a bit of lift from the roots and like it's been blow dried.

Best thing that works for me to keep the blow dry look is to use at little as possible. I've stopped using conditioner completely and use a much lighter shampoo. Sleep with it wet then dry it off in the morning.

HamHand · 30/01/2024 15:57

@Chisssweeze totally understand, we had to cancel a once in a lifetime thing when dd was that age and as hard as it was, it was the right choice.
thanks for the info @ThreeTescoBags I’m probably using too much conditioner

mealideas2024 · 30/01/2024 15:57

Sage soup maker

Dyson (or any!) cordless hoover

MacBook
