Have enjoyed ted lasso ghosts and detectorists.
Can MN recommend any others please?

Much needed. Husband likes much darker/ gritty stuff than me. As do most people it seems!

After Life and Car Share are both similar in that they are about relationships and human nature.

I thought Detectorists was the best TV ever made until I saw Ted Lasso. I can't see anything ever beating Ted.

Flyhigher · 29/01/2024 06:01

Ted was great! Colin from accounts too? X

Tried a bit of after life - it looked a bit dark.
I love Toby jones. He's so warm and kind.

Agree with Car Share
The Durrells?

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 29/01/2024 06:22

Old school, me!

I've been re-visiting Cheers, Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Like an easygoing comfort blanket in troubling times.

Flyhigher · 29/01/2024 06:25

Think I'm old school too! Love friends. Which husband will not watch.

Schitts Creek.

One piece?

Rebzy · 29/01/2024 06:42

Gilded Age on Sky is very light, a bit like Downton Abbey but set in New York when it was still being built from scratch so it is interesting from a historical point of view. Beautiful costumes and sets.

Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes; Lucifer, Elementary are a few that we've loved watching. We've gone really old school and re-watched comedy shows from the 70s. 80s and 90s recently including One Foot in the Grave, Keeping Up Appearances, Hi-De-Hi, Citizen Smith, Dear John, Only Fools and Horses -it's amazing how different some of the shows seem when you watch them years later as an adult!

Putthekettleon73 · 29/01/2024 07:05

The Change had a similar vibe to the detectorists (which I loved!). Colin from accounts was lovely. 5 bedrooms was a bit more frothy but full of heart- I loved Heather in it.

Putthekettleon73 · 29/01/2024 07:07

Ah the Durrell's was gorgeous telly too wasn't it. I love dark gritty stuff but also like heart warming (not schmaltzy though)

I love Catastrophe and Fleabag but they're not especially light viewing.

The tv series The Diplomat - the one with Kerri Russell and Rufus Sewell - available on Netflix.

(There’s another series called The Diplomat but I haven’t watched it yet, and I think it’s more of a drama).

Reservation Dogs is great. It has some very sad topics but always ends up making you feel better at the end with a few laughs along the way. Everyone is part of a really strong community and though they may fall out, they always come back together.
