To be bored of dragons den?

Do you watch this?
Every week, there loads of pitches and investments but never any updates?
When was the last time BBC did an update programme?
I'm sure people would like to know what's happened to things they invested in?

Also at the beginning, they start showing the pitches and reactions and spoiling the show.
Why not just ley it run from the beginning?
No tweets are ever answered when I've asked?
Does this programme need a reform?
Enjoy business programmes but think there's something lacking here?

The show is totally boring now, can't believe its still going.

Zonder · 25/01/2024 23:55

This made me laugh. I got bored of it years ago so I don't watch it.

Leave it to the people who still enjoy it!

verityswims · 25/01/2024 23:58

I used to watch it, but I think the format is tired now. Didn't they once pass on the Tangle Teezer? I'm sure I remember that.

Sceptre86 · 25/01/2024 23:59

They don't probe deep enough or it doesn't get aired. They come across as too afraid of being cancelled that they really don't delve deeper or actually criticise business plans anymore. Not saying the old format was fabulous, sometimes there was a definite pile on but they would call out entrepreneurs that were delusional or wasting their time.

Yes, they did! Even as they were doing it I couldn't believe the mistake they were making! Great to hear that the bloke went on to great success without them 👍

Remember when Peter insisted everyone wear a suit to pitch.
Think it's time he was moved on, been getting richer on the back of everyone else for years.
Move over now.

SherbetDips · 26/01/2024 00:08

I google the companies to see what they’re up to now.

ComfortableAtLastTookLongEnough · 26/01/2024 00:09

They also passed on the trunki

MardyBra · 26/01/2024 00:11

Don’t watch it then. HTH

Had to check if the fabulous Levi Roots wore a suit….yes he did!

Am always chuffed watching that clip and hearing Duncan Bannatyne say there was no business in reggae sauce 😂

LadyEloise1 · 26/01/2024 00:44

I'm really disappointed with the recent revelation about the woman with the "cure" for ME who got all the Dragons wanting to invest.
She was approached to go on the show she says.
So is it all "staged" ?

There wouldn't be a discussion then would there? There's always one.

Watch the Gladiators reboot instead. You can thank me later :-)

1y7 · 26/01/2024 01:11

They don't probe deep enough or it doesn't get aired.

The pitches typically last a couple of hours with lots of question and discussions between the Dragons.

She was approached to go on the show she says. So is it all "staged" ?

yep. And they do a full run through in front of the production company before they go in front of the Dragons.

penjil · 26/01/2024 01:26

I remember listening to Deborah Meaden who was a guest on a Radio show say some of the pitches go on for several hours!

Several hours?!

Oh my! 😱

Botanica · 26/01/2024 01:30

I know someone who pitched on DD and they were contacted and invited to take part, and were then successful in getting an investment from one of the dragons.

WandaWonder · 26/01/2024 01:32

There is one usually one invention, one beauty type one, glad the gin is over but one food/drink one, one online one, one fixing a problem that doesn't exist

We will always watch it but wish they mixed it up

And they interrogate some more than others, some have no idea on figures and all fine others make a tiny error and it's claws out

I do get annoyed by the hyper ones

Icedlatteplease · 26/01/2024 01:39

I think Wikipedia has an update page. From memory many investments seem to fail to get through the due diligence legal bit after the show and before investment actually happens. I was surprised how few were in any way successful over time.

Still DS loves it so I'm not going to stop watching anytime soon.

Frances0911 · 26/01/2024 02:02

I know someone who went on it at the very beginning, years ago. He got an offer which he accepted, then never heard from them again.

beeNqueen · 26/01/2024 02:45

I enjoy shows like this and the apprentice but first and foremost we have to remember it's a tv entertainment show not only business so they are going to add things for wow factor.

It is getting a little bit predictable tho each week which is a shame but again that's tv for you.

Roselilly36 · 26/01/2024 04:50

Yep seems very pantomime these days, and some of the daftest ideas/inventions you could ever wish to see. I’m out! Touker and the bed, was utterly hilarious though! It’s on YouTube if you haven’t seen it.

MrsMurphyIWish · 26/01/2024 06:12

Agree!

think they also passed on “the boot buddy” - as a football mum of two, a husband who is a PE teacher and runs long distance off road, the boot buddy is fab!!

stayathomer · 26/01/2024 06:15

They also passed on the trunki
Didn't the strap of it break when they were pitching though? That looked too dodgy! I love dragon’s den, they do update shows every so often, I’d say a huge percentage don’t actually get signed in the end though

stayathomer · 26/01/2024 06:17

😱Oh god you’d be gutted!!
