To ask who I report this too...

A store I visit every time has this every time ..you can't walk around this area and access the fire exit. The staff are honestly lovely and will climb over the stock to get items. It's shocking health and safety. It's not their fault. Once I thought ok but this is every single time for two years now and it's becoming a problem. Please advise who I report this too?

Report to local trading standards office

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 21/01/2024 18:25

Pets at home head office? Have you said in store?

Dacadactyl · 21/01/2024 18:25

I'd have said something to the store manager if I noticed it was blocking a fire exit, although I can't see a fire exit in the photo.

Then if no joy there, I'd send a message to head office.

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 18:26

I said in store and manager was so lovely and yes pets at home. I have pm head office but nothing back..

Surely that's not the state of their regular store. It's look lile shop when they have just got a delivery and don't have a big stock room

Sparklesocks · 21/01/2024 18:28

I can’t see the fire exit in the example pics but yes store manager and head office.

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 18:28

Every single time and this is the bird and fish section...you can't access it.... It's been blocked every single time I visited for two years.

Contact environmental health at your local council. If it isn't their responsibility, they should know whose it is. I think pet shops have to be inspected periodically anyway, so they might be able to put the wheels in motion.

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 18:30

Thanks I'll try trading standards and environment health. X

Report to the fire brigade .

Springcleaninginsummer · 21/01/2024 18:36

Just contact the nearest fire station. They will visit ASAP.

This.

Local.council ? Health and safety. This is a massive breech of H&S and if an evacuation was compromised their could potentially be criminal charges

Forgoodnesssakejustletme · 21/01/2024 18:43

Contact your local Fire Service on their HQ number. Fire protection will do a visit.

Petrine · 21/01/2024 18:43

If you feel you want to contact anyone it should be the HSE. You can do so on their website.

personally I’d contact Pets at Home head office first. If you mention getting the HSE involved they’ll sort it out immediately.

catelynjane · 21/01/2024 18:44

The fire brigade are the people to speak to.

Makeitmakesensetoday · 21/01/2024 18:56

Wtf? This is so bizarre. What did the manager actually say? You said he was lovely but what was his response about this? Its actually almost unbelievable!

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 21/01/2024 19:10

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 18:29

How do you know the doors there? Absolutely can't see it, are you ex staff? I know you're in a lot, but I don't think I could remember the fire exits of shops I go into.

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 19:46

I can see the fire exit sign from where I was standing (wish taken photo). I found the staff very helpful and willing to get things by climbing over the stock. Reported to pets at home head office. I'm just fed up of not being able to get to the items that behind this stock.

Don't bother with trading standards, they don't even talk directly to the public. Head office/the staff in store. Don't expect it to change though.

Crochetablanket · 21/01/2024 19:57

Fire and rescue service, they are the enforcing authority for fire safety. Local council environmental health might also visit if you report to them too.

Trading standards will only be interested if the pet food is substandard.

PrincessArora · 21/01/2024 20:27

Absolutely not trading standards. And not environmental health either. If you need to speak to council it will be the licensing team who deal with pet shop licensing.

fire brigade possibly better.

doodlejump1980 · 21/01/2024 20:34

Our pets at home is exactly like this too! Are you somewhere beginning with I?

Londonrach1 · 21/01/2024 20:50

Yes @doodlejump1980
