Light hearted !

Upstairs with my 2 babies. Hear door knock. Desperately I hope DH who is downstairs will go as I don’t want to wake the babies . But I hear no movement . So I stupidly jump and run to the window to see the delivery drive away!!!! I woke the babies in the process. Arghhh

It is the first time in almost 3 years I have ordered new clothes after living in leggings ! I actually mean this. I finally bit the bullet after months of lurking at clothes and paid for next day delivery and I missed it .

DH sat at kitchen table claims he didn’t hear the door go! Yet I heard it from upstairs and now need to drive to collect the parcel 25
mins away but can’t collect until Saturday !

I could just explode ! Ahahahhash!!

This is mumsnet where nobody ever answers their door so he would fit in well!

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 18/01/2024 13:25

Lighthearted?! I'd kill him 😂

EveryDayIsASchoolDayOnMN · 18/01/2024 13:26

Well I hope he enjoys the 50 min round trip!

CharmedCult · 18/01/2024 13:27

Bet he’d have heard it if he was expecting a delivery.

Send him to do the 25 min drive to pick it up.

Flickersy · 18/01/2024 13:27

Just get it redelivered. No need for the drama.

Bill2bill · 18/01/2024 13:28

This would give me the RAGE

RatatouillePie · 18/01/2024 13:29

Go collect while he does childcare.

Take a detour via a coffee shop and go proper clothes shopping on a high street.

I hope you gave him a bollocking

Ihaterhymingrabbit · 18/01/2024 13:32

Did you tell him it was due and to listen out?

TempName247 · 18/01/2024 13:32

Sometimes they attempt delivery again later on, it’s happened to me a couple of times

sockmuncher · 18/01/2024 13:33

I'm glad I'm not married to some of you.

Punishments for simply not hearing the door!

SquirrelRed · 18/01/2024 13:36

He genuinely may not have heard it. Me and my mum were in the kitchen once and didn't hear the door, yet my dad who was in bed after working a night shift did hear it and got up to answer (it was a plumber we were waiting for), sometimes sound travels strangely!

Toberlerone · 18/01/2024 13:39

Send DH to get it.

HalebiHabibti · 18/01/2024 13:40

Enjoy your 1.5 hour round trip to go get it on Sat! He can stay gone with the babies. I suspect there will be traffic (get a coffee)....

Bobbotgegrinch · 18/01/2024 14:03

Well I doubt he did it on purpose unless there's a massive dripfeed coming. Maybe you should have gotten up a bit quicker to get your own parcel.

That's what I was thinking!

saradika · 18/01/2024 14:08

I hate this new thing where DPD just take the parcel somewhere for you to pick up without giving any chance to arrange redelivery. Apparently once they've dropped it off wherever (mine was a post office) that's the end of it for them. They used to be great at redelivery.

Alwaysalwayscold · 18/01/2024 14:16

If he didn't hear it then he didn't hear it, what was he supposed to do?

CharlotteMakepeace · 18/01/2024 14:21

I have deliveries from DPD all the time, and if you have the app, you can specify a safe place for them to leave the parcel, so they never ever have to knock.

PuddlesPityParty · 18/01/2024 14:22

Was he working?

This!

I would think he genuinely didn't hear the door so I wouldn't be too cross with him but I wouldn't be taking the babies with me to get it while he has a peaceful hour at home, or sending him off for a peaceful drive!

Coconutter24 · 18/01/2024 14:30

was he asked to listen out for the delivery? I know if I’m not expecting a knock at the door I don’t always hear it.

This. DPD and the like also give an estimate time so if you knew it was arriving today you could have said to him that you were expecting a parcel so keep an ear out for the door.

also I’m confused about the upstairs with the babies thing, if they were sleeping why wouldn’t you just go down and get the door yourself, unless they were sleeping ON you?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 18/01/2024 15:32

What an argumentative bunch you lot can be.

Yes it's frustrating when people near the door don't answer it.
