To divorce him over toilet roll...

mysparkleismissing · 14/01/2024 13:25

.. I am JOKING but...

This happens at least weekly.

Why he can't use the last few sheets or put it in the frigging recycling I don't know.

Let's see how long this one sits on the side/window sill.... I think a week is the current record

To divorce him over toilet roll...

I wish I could divorce myself for doing exactly the same thing.

Daftasabroom · 14/01/2024 13:30

How about the milk bottle equivalent - not even enough for a cup of tea, but it goes back in fridge regardless.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/01/2024 13:32

No one is perfect, but I really couldn't live with someone like this. I'm sure the toilet roll isn't the only thing he can't be arsed doing.

SeaToSki · 14/01/2024 13:32

My DH leaves the buttery knife from his toast carefully balanced on the edge of the sink..he thinks its helpful 😖

Gettingbysomehow · 14/01/2024 13:38

I have about 10 of those on my bathroom window sill. I live on my own.
I've just this minute realised I need a big bathroom waste bin. Maybe that's your answer. If he still does it despite the bin LTB.

MadamVastra · 14/01/2024 13:41

You can use the last few sheets though yourself? So he probably thinks there might not be enough for a man poo but more than enough for a lady wipe? Who knows 😂

Mumof2NDers · 14/01/2024 13:43

This is also an issue in our house along with:
Using the dining room chairs to hang his coat on
Leaving his shoes all over the place
Leaving empty food jars on the worktop
leaving his dirty clothes on the bathroom floor.
leaving the dogs harness and lead on the dining room table.
leaving empty coffee cups on the dining room table
There’s much more but im
winding myself up now so im
going to stop!! 😂😡

It really isn't funny. It's awful. It's pure disrespect.

m00ngirl · 14/01/2024 13:50

@Mumof2NDers oh my god mine is the same. Responds to training but these ones (that rely on actually perceiving the dining table as a CLEAN space) are some of the hardest to shift

NewYearNewPyjamas · 14/01/2024 13:55

If you wasted this amount of toilet roll on every roll, you'd have an increased, unnecessary cost and inefficient toilet roll use. Won't someone think of the trees?!

TravelInHope · 14/01/2024 13:55

Find some way to humiliate him in public.

This is nothing. Yesterday I found DPs used trainers on the kitchen counter. The 👏 KITCHEN 👏 counter.

WideAwakeClub302 · 14/01/2024 13:56

My husband does exactly the same! Once upon a time, I would have just dealt with it, but now he's retired and does precisely bugger all round the house (that's a thread on it's own), it stays on the edge of the bath where he left it until he moves it.

I put the empty ones on his golf trophy shelf 😁

"Last of the looroll syndrome" happens with teens too.

@SeaToSki My adult DS does this all the time. The dishwasher is directly underneath where he puts the knife FGS. When I ask him to put the knife in the dishwasher he never wipes up the butter that has been left on the draining board. I'm just waiting for the day he's saved up enough for a deposit to buy a flat as I'm fed up wasting my breath about it!

bobomomo · 14/01/2024 14:08

@mouseychick

And older than teens, who have lived alone at university before so should have learned that toilet rolls don't walk themselves to the recycling bin! Also that they don't appear in the house without someone buying them - ours have a bathroom to themselves and earn money so I don't understand why I need to empty the bin, pick up empty loo rolls from all over the cabinet and restock the cabinet with new loo rolls, one even works in a supermarket! Grrrrr.

Oh and ditto soap, shower gel (they buy shampoo each as fussy), bleach etc. for 2024 onwards I'm on strike

If you're anything like every other member of my family, you'll just end up with toilet roll tubes on top of the bin lid as well as on the windowsill.

Only answer is perhaps to buy a bin with no lid?

What are his redeeming features? To counter all of that, he'd have to be bloody good in bed and very very rich so I could employ cleaners to clean up after him and just enjoy my life!

Charlize43 · 14/01/2024 14:24

This happens at work where people scoff all the biscuits and leave the last one in the packet. So in our large biscuit tin you often find 7 or 8 empty packets with just 1 biscuit inside of each.

LoveSandbanks · 14/01/2024 14:29

One of the things I’ve learned as I’ve got older is that I’m not perfect. Fortunately, my dh is the tolerant type so he forgives me my imperfections.

we have a blast together and still share the same sense of humour(after almost 30 years) so I forgive him his imperfections too

ronoi · 14/01/2024 14:32

Why would anyone leave it? If you go in the loo next use it!

Rubytoos · 14/01/2024 14:43

Write the date on it and continue to leave it on the side. When asked, explain you’re keeping an accurate record to avoid denials. Maybe that will prompt him.

CherryRipe1 · 14/01/2024 14:52

LTB. But seriously I got sick of my partners sweet wrappers & crisp packets, toilet tubes, heaps of clothes and god knows what littering up the house. I collected it all up and dumped it in his immaculate car & was confronted with a diatribe which I went into one over as to why he left shit lying about the home but his car was scared? I kept up with this regime & it eventually paid off. Men are like dogs & need training.

GHSP · 14/01/2024 14:54

Well actually it was stuff like this that pushed me over the edge in the end. It just says ‘my time is more important than yours’.
