So today I have had a delivery (well known company ) and I heard him on the ring doorbell , saying quite loudly ….. YOU ORDER ALL THIS BLOODY CRAP , then mumbling (maybe noticed I had a ring and thought he would shut up) , but seriously , is that not your job to deliver parcels ?

I know people moan and that’s normal , but when you’re literally moaning about the main aspect of your job is that not a bit like wtf ?

I do have quite a few parcels from this company but surely it makes no difference to what house you have to deliver to and whether it’s the same one (once a week)

AIBU - let the man have a moan?
AINBU - he should just crack on , and maybe be aware most people have ring doorbells now 🤣

And yet here you are, moaning about something absolutely trivial

JamSandle · 03/01/2024 12:54

Definitely not professional of him. Keep the moaning away from the customers for sure!

Loubelle70 · 03/01/2024 12:55

Id assume he was having a shit day...beat him to the door next time...be nice, take the parcels and wish him a good day 😊👍

JingleSnowmanTree · 03/01/2024 12:55

You should have replied 'yes & it keeps you in a job!'

Ace56 · 03/01/2024 12:55

Everyone moans about their job at some point. His mistake was doing it within earshot, although clearly he didn’t realise.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2024 12:56

YABU, not everyone is like this.
Today I got a delivery - part of DHs repeat prescription which wasn't available with the rest of it, cheerfully delivered by a lovely woman who afaik is a volunteer.

Ah there’s always one …. Just wanted opinions , is that not what this site is for, I’m curious.

And here you are being the first to reply …. Thank you 👍🏻

It's terrible weather today in most of the UK, I assume. I would just assume he was having a bad day in the pissing rain, and write it off. Tough job, that.

Moaning is what we are best at in this country.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/01/2024 13:00

Well, IS it bloody crap? 😆

Maybe he thinks you've got a shopping addiction.....

Ihaterhymingrabbit · 03/01/2024 13:01

People have always moaned, now we have ring door bells they can’t do it in private 🤣

Have you never whinged about a job?

True that, but yes he’s prob right on the shopping addiction , something I’m working on in 2024 😉

I don't think most people do have ring doorbells. I don't know anyone in real life who has one, not even the big house where I work!

Very true , they are a bit like big brother on the street nowadays .

and yes course I’ve moaned about my job . Just not the main aspect of it … as in the actual point your job exists , kinda made me laugh what he said 🤣 because I mostly do order crap lol

Did you answer the door or were you not in but watching him on the app?

its2024 · 03/01/2024 13:11

Yes it's their job but it's probably the amount off parcels expected to deliver and not enough time, with Xmas and now sales they are probably fed up off long days If deliveries to you regularly probably just a moan as here again. The pressure their under and rules they have to break to get the job done.

Yes if you didn't buy they wouldn't have a job but something needs to be done about driving rules, breaks, these companies get away with expecting someone to deliver 100+ parcels a day.

My partner used to work for a delivery company off white goods, was at work for 6am and sometimes not home until 10pm at night, then expected to be back at work next day at 6am. He was shattered on his days off and thankfully is still a delivery driver but not for a company like this.

Vehicles under 7.5 are not tracked or have to obey driving rules and this needs to chance so companies have to employ more drivers and existing drivers work fair hours.

No i was in but he always drops and goes , in the porch , I was actually wanted to answer the door today as I wanted to ask him a question about returns , but he’s speedy and went .

so I must had happen to look at the new notification . Funny because I never normally do especially with sound .

You'd have given the poor bugger a nervous breakdown if you wanted him to take away some of what he's delivered!!!!!

Spendonsend · 03/01/2024 13:18

I think a lot of people moan about the main aspect of their job. I dont think everyone choses their work. They end up doing what was available that would take them on.

NannyGythaOgg · 03/01/2024 13:19

He's basically said the same as I say, every time I receive a parcel.

'More bloody crap' - I don't say it to the deliverer though - just to myself once I have taken the parcel in

Temu?

5128gap · 03/01/2024 13:28

I'd imagine your man does his job for the money not because as a starry eyed school leaver he went into delivery due to some great love of parcels. Having a chunter to yourself on a cold wet 3rd of January when you don't think you're overheard is fairly normal if you work for the money rather than vocation.

He must have gone to a good school, he gets to drive the van.
