I'm no darts fan but I've seen loads about this new player Luke Littler who is 16 and is doing very well. His girlfriend is 21, am I the only one who rinks this is inappropriate? (Despite the fact that he looks about 38).

There's another thread about this!

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2024 19:37

What would a 21 year old see in a year old. If he was 18 then maybe.

Witchcraftandhokum · 02/01/2024 19:38

There's another thread about this!

Sorry just have checked.

May be inappropriate but it’s not illegal. It’s a consenting relationship.

Absolute saddos starting posts about this young lad all over the place. Grow up

Vice versa, I’d think it was creepy as hell, an adult in a relationship with a child. Nothing sad about it.

Jesus, calm down, I'm certainly not "out to get him". I just think it's wildly inappropriate for a 21 year old to be interested in a 16 year old.

He's not a child ffs 😂 he's 17 in a couple of weeks. Leave him alone. As a darts fan I've watched this play out before. The media (and those on social media) should be more responsible and careful of the things they post.

He's had it in the fucking neck for literally every aspect of his life. If you're so concerned that he's "a child" and he might be vulnerable then at least stop and think before starting bashing threads about him. Couldn't even be arsed to check if there was another one - clue, there is 🙄

DifficultPifficultLemonDifficult · 02/01/2024 19:46

I couldn't imagine finding a 16 year old attractive at 21. "Do you fancy going to the pub babe" ... "oh, wait, you can't for 2 more years"

Then again I was 19 and married someone who was in their early 30s and thought it was a good idea, so it's probably one of those situations where you don't realise how creepy it is until you're older.

sleepysummery · 02/01/2024 19:46

Fair enough but it if was the other way and the man was 21 dating a 16 year old I'm sure a lot of people would be saying negative things

demonheed · 02/01/2024 19:47

"I'm certainly not "out to get him". I just think it's wildly inappropriate for a 21 year old to be interested in a 16 year old."

Why comment on his looks then? Surely that's irrelevant?

newtlover · 02/01/2024 19:47

well he does look at least 10 years older than he is, maybe he is unusually socially and emotionally mature also? the one time I heard him being interviewed he didn't sound 16/17

Poudretteite · 02/01/2024 19:48

Yeah I think it's very weird.

Switcher · 02/01/2024 19:48

It's really none of anyone's business.

Do you not grasp that she's bashing the older girlfriend not the 16yo?? 🙄

Witchcraftandhokum · 02/01/2024 19:49

Why comment on his looks then? Surely that's irrelevant? I mentioned his looks because as he does look older they look more 'acceptable' as a couple. But you can take put that comment and my point still stands.

Oh that’s okay then 🙄

If it was a 16 year old girl and a 21 year old man people would be horrified.

My dd is 21 and she thinks it’s awful. She would never date anyone 16.

Could use the same argument about teenage girls who dress up to look older. No he's not more emotionally mature because he looks older. He's 16.

Absolutely this.

Apparently he is so vulnerable and needs protection yet people are posting and making judgements about his life (and other things about him on other threads which is just plain nasty) all over social media

Right

AuntMarch · 02/01/2024 19:51

That is the age gap between me and my younger brother and it wasn't until they were mid to late 20s that I regarded his friends as peers rather than kids!

Pebbles16 · 02/01/2024 19:51

My DH was 19 and I was 24 when we met - same age difference. Socially unacceptable?

LetsDanceTheNightAway · 02/01/2024 19:52

Can't people just leave him alone?

@Pigeonqueen I wouldn't be horrified, nor would a lot of other people. Only on here are people frothing about it.

Do you mean watched a darts relationship between a child and an adult before? Which way round was it and what happened in the end?

For the record I'm in the inappropriate at first thought camp and I'd not be happy if I had a 16 year old in the same situation.

There a whole lot of maturing taking place in those 5 years

EnjoyingTheSilence · 02/01/2024 19:52

If the sexes were the other way plenty of people would comment. I don’t see why this is any different

He's probably more mature than the averge due to the competitions and work he has to put in to what he does.

The other thread said apparently she is also a darts player so they're in the same business so to speak.
