To ask, if you were a Terry's Chocolate Orange, where would you be?

My husband I were both gifted a chocolate orange for Christmas, different flavours so obvious which is which. Two days ago I sorted out the chocolate/sweets into stuff we want to put aside for a daily treat and stuff we want to eat now. I then put it in two boxes - one for each of us. Both COs were present and correct. Yesterday evening I fancied a bit of mine so went into my box but it wasn't there. Confused, I checked the kitchen where I'd put the 'portionable' stuff, not there either. Not in my husband's box (his is safely there).

I've been through my box four or five times now, there's only a few bits in there so not really anywhere for one to hide 😁We have checked under the tree/sofa/footstool with no luck. Earlier today I was getting one of our two Christmas bowls out, one was there, the other was not. Can't find it anywhere either. It's hand-wash only so after use has been washed and put away, I cannot understand where it is has gone?!

So, lovely MNetters, were is my stuff going? Will I wake up tomorrow and realise all my socks are gone...!

It's just my husband and I and no children. Had a family member visit yesterday but sincerely doubt he has nicked it! We definitely haven't eaten it.

Next doors child, cat, dog , magpie etc

Clarinet1 · 30/12/2023 15:57

Hate to say it but mice? Rats? Foxes?

TheIsleOfTheLost · 30/12/2023 16:08

It's clearly disappeared into some form of paradox as chocolate oranges are orange flavour, not mint. You are safer never finding it as you will probably destroy the space/time continuum in the process. You can't have a mint orange!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/12/2023 16:10

A mint chocolate orange??
I would have self-destructed in disgust.
Hence I am now in tiny particles all over your ceiling.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/12/2023 17:41

Oh, did a neighbour come to the door with a bottle of wine and you were put on the spot and panicked and gave them the chocolate orange in return? I would have done that.

BCBird · 30/12/2023 17:44

Do u have any chocolate loving pets ?

PandaCory · 30/12/2023 17:47

In the fruit bowl pretending to be healthy.

Greenpolkadot · 30/12/2023 17:50

Im betting it's hidden in DH'S knicker drawer

Now my chocolate orange is hidden in a cupboard in my office.....

JingleSnowmanTree · 30/12/2023 17:55

I'm lurking under a soft Chrustmas present so I don't get eaten!! I think it's a jumper.

@InvisibleChocolateOrange it's nice to meet you! Someone who is more anal about sorting than I am!

OccasionalHope · 30/12/2023 17:56

Side of the sofa

EeesandWhizz · 30/12/2023 17:58

I'll check in the bag on the coat stand. Found 2 in there in August from last Christmas...

FrostieBoabby · 30/12/2023 18:00

Straight in the bin, we all hate them and naturally it was the only chocolate MIL bought me every bloody year.

PandaChopChop · 30/12/2023 18:01

In the bin where it belongs!

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 30/12/2023 18:01

Its been gathered up with the wrapping paper and made its way into the recycling bin-which is sad news if your local to me cz ours have already been emptied!
(Somehow this genuinely did happen to a whole bottle of baileys in our house once, fortunately rescued before collection day)
Good luck OP.

Bloatstoat · 30/12/2023 18:02

It's off on a Christmas adventure with a pack of frozen hash browns that I definitely bought at Tesco (checked the receipt) and brought home as my husband asked which freezer to put them in (we have a fridge freezer in the kitchen and a freezer in the garage) but was nowhere to be found when I went to cook tea earlier 🤔

FrostyFlo · 30/12/2023 18:02

In the bin if it was a gift or on the shop shelf unpurchased . Blergh !

trulyunruly01 · 30/12/2023 18:06

Well I once found mine inside a terrier.

And that was £300 at the vets.

GothConversionTherapy · 30/12/2023 18:09

How do so many people not like COs ??

Check the fridge, that's where I keep mine. Btw I love things like after eights but the mint COs were way too minty for me.

ScoopyDoo · 30/12/2023 18:09

It’s snuggled up in one of these

Lovelydaytomorrow · 30/12/2023 18:10

In the bin... Disgusting chocolate. Even worse than the double decker in the selection box, but not quite as awful as a liquor chocolate selection from home bargains

Fannyfiggs · 30/12/2023 18:11

PandaChopChop · 30/12/2023 18:01

What?? I'm reporting your post as fake news... I can't believe there are people out there who don't like chocolate oranges.

p.s. I'm not really reporting your post 😁

Fannyfiggs · 30/12/2023 18:12

EwwSprouts · 30/12/2023 15:41

In the fridge just chilling

This ☝️

GothConversionTherapy · 30/12/2023 18:16

Oh the liquor chocolates shaped like miniature jack Daniels etc bottles are so disgusting. I worked in a pub once with some big drinkers and even they wouldn't eat them.

AllAroundMyCat · 30/12/2023 19:14

Nah.
It's been ingested by a dishonest person who has since shat it out and , if you live near London, has been flushed through South East Water's tunnels and is now feeding some poor winkles in the Thames Estuary.

Please feel free to substitute the Thames for the Severn, the Tyne, the Dee or the Shannon.
