To not wash my hair

lionobserving · 29/12/2023 23:26

I never usually have a haircut without colour, but tomorrow i do.

My hair needed washing about 3 days ago, and has been caught in the rain twice since. Today I scraped it into a "sleek" (mousse to cover the post-xmas laziness) ponytail, because I couldn't be bothered to wash it today when I'm going to the hairdressers tomrorow.

However, it's just dawned on me that I always have my hair washed pre-cut because it's normally coloured first. I'm not having it coloured tomorrow so I don't know if they will wash it first.

Either way, can I turn up without washing my hair, which is not only a few days late for washing, but has also been caught in two downpours and has lots of product in since the last wash. Have I got to get up early and wash it before the hairdressers in the morning?!

I never have my hair coloured but they still wash it before a cut. I'd say that's fairly standard so I'm sure they'll still wash your hair.

AllllTheQuestions · 29/12/2023 23:28

Erm yes.

Don't be dirty. No one wants to touch your greasy hair.

adriftabroad · 29/12/2023 23:28

They will wash it

StBrides · 29/12/2023 23:28

Yanbu
My hairdresser tells me off everytime when I confess to washing it the night before - he says that's their job !

adriftabroad · 29/12/2023 23:29

It is NOT dirty!

BreadInCaptivity · 29/12/2023 23:29

They don't wash before colour, so yes I'd wash before going the hairdresser.

Not sure why it's a big deal. Just wash it no need to style of you're going to the hairdresser anyway.

JingleSnowmanTree · 29/12/2023 23:29

They will probably wash it anyway but there's no way in hell I'd go to the hairdressers with dirty hair why should they have to handle your dirty hair?

mottytotty · 29/12/2023 23:30

A wash before cut is standard now, unless you opt for the cheaper dry cut.

For a dry cut, your hair has to have been washed in the last 24 hours.

For a wet cut, no need to pre-wash your hair, as ling as your hair isn’t very greasy.

Shouldershoulder · 29/12/2023 23:30

If you booked in for a cut and blow dry, then they'll wash it. If you just booked a dry cut then they won't.

What??

it needed washing 3 days ago, it's had a load of product in since then. Of course it's dirty.

doriangraybutimthepaintingintheattic · 29/12/2023 23:33

You won't get a "correct" answer here so you do you.

I don't know what your hair is like 3 going on 4 days but mine would be ready to cook chips. No way I'd go out like that.

Your hair isn't going to explode by being washed twice and that's a better option than disgusting your hairdresser and feeling embarrassed.

I don't know if they'll wash your hair anyway - depends on what you've booked but they will need to if you don't and may not have scheduled the time.

adriftabroad · 29/12/2023 23:33

3 day old hair is not dirty. It is to be washed and cut anyway.

It could be more days. It needed washing three days ago.

DecemberDreamz · 29/12/2023 23:36

Get your money's worth - don't wash it! 😁

sparkleroo · 29/12/2023 23:36

Rank.

No one wants to touch greased up hair. It's just rude that you are going to turn up with it smelly greasy & dirty.

I read it as it was ready for washing 3 days ago but the OP didn't bother, then got caught in the rain and covered it in hair products. But maybe she meant she washed it 3 days ago and then that happened, it's not clear.

angelikacpickles · 29/12/2023 23:38

They will wash it before they cut it but I couldn't go to the hairdressers with filthy hair.

AllllTheQuestions · 29/12/2023 23:38

3 days old hair is possibly doable, but OP said “needed washing 3 days ago” which I read as, it was already dirty 3 days ago but she’s continued to add product (maybe dry shampoo) for a a further 3 days.

i wash my hair everyday/ day and a half as it’s very greasy and I’d be embarrassed to go to the hairdresser with hair I’d brushed into a sleek pony tail as it’s too greasy to manage in a different style.

Houseplanter · 29/12/2023 23:39

I'd be no more likely to go to the hairdressers with dirty hair than I would the dentist without brushing my teeth

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/12/2023 23:39

Unless you booked a dry cut they will be washing it anyway, so I wouldn't bother.

If it is a dry cut (eg for curly hair) then do wash it.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 29/12/2023 23:41

That's disgusting. Have you no standards? Needed washing THREE days ago?! THREE!! 🤢

VioletPickles · 29/12/2023 23:41

Would you want to touch someone’s 5/6 day old hair? I’d wash it and go in feeling clean and smelling nice.

mrsclaus1984 · 29/12/2023 23:46

You wouldn’t see a gynaecologist without washing your minge first, would you?

LinnieM · 29/12/2023 23:47

I wonder how people would react if they knew that black women wash their hair every 3/4 weeks (and sometimes even longer). I think some people would fall off their chair!

<completely misses the point of the post>

But does their hair get greasy within 24 hours? I could fry an egg on my niece’s 24 hour old head.
