Mine are giving up social media completely. The less I know about people the better.

what are your resolutions for 2024?

I was literally going to post the same thing - but more importantly, save my mental health by not arguing with randoms on forums and comment sections 😳.

mogsrus · 25/12/2023 22:19

always wondered why wait till new yr? If your going to do anything do it now

MerryChristmas23 · 25/12/2023 22:19

Quit smoking, quit drinking, cut down on caffeine, take better care of myself physically and mentally and finally spend less time on my phone

I don't do new years resolutions myself - January is a horrible month and being nice to yourself is important - but I gave up Facebook, Instagram and Twitter years ago, and life is a bazillion times better without the endless tide of nonsense they bring.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/12/2023 22:23

Spend less money
Get to bed earlier
Start running and exercise again
Try not to let work take over my life like it always does - so as to give more time to the children and to myself
Get my language studies going again

LibbyL92 · 25/12/2023 23:01

Spend less money on clothes and other wants and not needs.

I really want to shift two stone. I’m so uncomfortable at the moment.

improve my time keeping

Trinity69 · 25/12/2023 23:02

Quit smoking…..again.

ChristmasEvemaddness · 25/12/2023 23:40

I've got to save more money, we don't have enough of a cushion.
Disengage at work more and don't get sucked into the drama.

Keep excersising. I can't cope with older age, heat waves like we have had and excess weight.

Inextremis · 25/12/2023 23:41

Eat smaller portions - I only eat 2 meals a day and yet I'm putting on weight - can only be the portion size! Also, reduce carbs.

Quit drinking - useless calories, and it doesn't help me get a good night's sleep

Get a bit more exercise - nothing too strenuous, just more regular and often

Do some actual, physical art, as opposed to digital stuff - it won't be pretty to start with, but I'm sure I'll improve over time

No screens in bed - I want to get back to reading real, paper books

Eat more fish - I love it, DH doesn't, but I can do something different (like a burger) for him, without too much trouble. He doesn't cook - which is a blessing.

Continue to not buy clothes - I have loads that I rarely wear - I'm mostly in black T-shirts and leggings, which is fine by me. I don't need new ones.

The only other thing is to be very frugal in Jan and Feb, and eat our way through the contents of the chest freezer - which are many, and various. Might even last until March, with just weekly shopping for perishables like veg, milk etc.

Work on making more local friendships - I was away for a couple of years looking after my Dad (RIP) and kind of lost touch with local people. Since coming back, and then Covid, I've not renewed my old contacts, nor made new ones. This will change.

So, it's quite a list - but I think it's all positive. I don't feel bad about my current life, I'm just looking for ways to make it better.

bellac11 · 25/12/2023 23:42

I need to build muscle tone and strength. I havent the foggiest what Im talking about really and dont know how /where to start

And Im v lazy and hate moving around.

Applerumleandcustard · 25/12/2023 23:49

Try and stop being snappy at people all the time , count to 10 , take a breath ….

tinselvestsparklepants · 26/12/2023 00:03

I'm going to be much nicer to myself, and behave as if I were my own good friend.

WesselCups · 26/12/2023 00:30

To not have any, the same as every New Year.

caringcarer · 26/12/2023 00:37

To get back on my diet. I've put on about 5 lb in December. In January I have to lose it again.

To do more cleaning each day. Just keep on top of little jobs everyday. I'm fed up with it all building up and having to spend most of a day on it every week.

BakedTattie · 26/12/2023 00:38

To bring more colour into my life. Especially in my home and the clothes I wear. I’m so sick of black, grey and beige.

Peckahminn11 · 26/12/2023 00:45

Spend less money, lose 18Ibs and get fitter.
Also make more of an effort. Grow my hair

Peckahminn11 · 26/12/2023 00:46

Also DRY JAN! I need to cut down my alcohol intake

Ambi · 26/12/2023 02:36

Build up our mortgage overpayment pot.

I started my 2024 health journey in November so I have a little headstart. I'm 16lbs down and I'm loving the gym. Next I will lose the booze and eat better, reduce UPFs, sugar and bread from my diet and stick to simple whole foods.

Trez1510 · 26/12/2023 02:54

I'd like to learn/master cooking techniques. I can manage to throw together basic dishes but I'd like to expand on that.

Viewing MasterChef has really hit home just how deficient I am in basic skills. I've also become quite lazy as my partner is a great cook so he does 90/95% of the cooking.

Christmassss · 26/12/2023 03:32

Not put any of the weight back on that I’ve lost this year.

Get my teeth whitened.

Book myself a make up consultant and buy and then wear foundation (or whatever it’s called now) as I haven’t worn it before apart from when I got married.

BuddhaAtSea · 26/12/2023 04:08

Simplify my life.

I have a MacBook, an iPad, a kindle, audibles and about 200 books waiting to be read. That’s too much.

I work insane hours. I can’t cut down just yet, but I could organise the whole thing a bit better.

Re-learn how to chill. I have to do stuff all the time. I don’t meditate regularly anymore. I need to catch up with myself a bit.

shearwater2 · 26/12/2023 04:29

Carry on with what I've been doing exercise and diet wise.

Size 12 now, aim is to be size 10 and maintaining normal BMI in 2024. January to May is usually the best time for me for weight loss and I have a stone and a bit to go.

flowerchild2000 · 26/12/2023 04:33

I gave up SM in 2020 and it feels GREAT!

This year I'm making more human in-person connections.

AvenueCornelius · 26/12/2023 04:38

To learn to cook tasty and nutritious meals.

To learn to garden.

Thisbastardcomputer · 26/12/2023 04:42

To not see my son again after he completely ruined Christmas Day. I have a chronic condition and I worked so hard to make it nice. Never again will I put myself out to make that ungrateful twat happy, I think he's actually incapable of being happy and drags everyone around him down.
