No tears, no dramas, no ruined turkey, no A&E crises.
I feel like I'm the only one on MN to not be death staring my MIL or about to LTB.
Merry xmas to everyone, whether it's going well or gone to shit

There's still time Wink

I'm glad you're having a lovely day. I'm having quite a good day too, but I don't have family to contend with!

AhBiscuits · 25/12/2023 15:49

You are tempting fate.

We're having a nice day too. Delicious lunch, happy children. We've just had a big lego session and breaking for cheesecake.

Hmmthatsgoodchicken · 25/12/2023 15:54

We've had a lovely day so far.
Stayed in bed until 9 when I woke dd (14) up.
Had a leisurely breakfast.
Opened presents
Got dressed (naice clothes)
Made the best Xmas dinner we have ever done
Ate until we couldn't move
Washed up and cleaned the whole kitchen
Went for a walk
Now watching Muppets Christmas Carol.

Going to have dessert soon and play some games.
Then I'm going to leave DD and DW and sit and read my new book. 😁

Can’t be going that well if you’re hanging out on here 😜

Why? It could be going fine and she could still get to post.

I'm having a lovely day and I'm sat reading this because I'm full of food and can't be arsed to do anything else!

piscofrisco · 25/12/2023 16:14

I'm had a great day. No kids here this morning so dh and I had a leisurely lie in (and a lovely bunk up). We had a nice lunch out with dd2, now drinking some bubbles awaiting the arrival of dd1 home from work.

SweetFemaleAttitude · 25/12/2023 16:20

We done all our visiting this morning and me DH and DD are doing our own chilled day. It's absolute bliss.

I've cooked in my new lounge wear. DH and I have been in charge of different bits of food for dinner. Timings have gone perfectly.

I drove to visits today and and now just one the sauvignon blanc.

Some games to play later (pop master and pub trivia) some chocolates and miserable Xmas EastEnders 😂.

It's been my favourite day all year

Hope everyone is having a lovely day

Cheers 🥂

DelilahBucket · 25/12/2023 16:47

Lovely day here too, just the three of us. We've not had our main dinner yet, it's cooking. No dramas, nice and chilled out, just how we like it.

Quiregirl · 25/12/2023 16:57

All good here too. Cooked the meal to end all meals, all on my own with no interfering spoony fuckers to mess up my timing. Garlic roasted leg of lamb, whole roast chicken and a smoked ham, roast spuds, leeks, parsnips, steamed sprouts, carrots and broccoli and some spiced cabbage, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls all miraculously ready ten minutes after we'd finished the avocado toast starter. It was truly a Christmas miracle and relatively stress free. I'm not boasting, I'm in bloody shock! Now waiting to feel hungry enough for either a mince pie, Christmas pudding or slice of Christmas cake all homemade (now I'm being smug!).

My dinner us cooking nicely, everything under control, nothing burnt. Just about to serve up.

All good here too. But it's just us and the DC! Good food, movies, new toys, cuddles! I fear it would be different if there were others involved!
Totally stress free.

blackpanth · 25/12/2023 17:02

Just about to eat mine. Glad you've had a good day 😊 x

Rubyupbeat · 25/12/2023 17:03

Just me and the other half, lovely lazy day (other than dog walks)
Just cooking dinner and looking forward to a good film tonight.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 25/12/2023 17:04

Nice day so far here too.
DH cooked us a lovely Christmas dinner, dd8 has had a lovely day playing with her new toys.
MIL is here too for a few days, luckily we get on really well and she's a hands on grandma.
Dd19 and DD16 are in their rooms but both have been downstairs and participated in the day.
I've cleaned the kitchen, now sat watching The Wizard Of Oz with a glass of wine

Tweedledumdedum · 25/12/2023 17:06

Yep, it's been great. Dinner at a normal time (1pm) as a toddler and baby mean an early start. Plenty of fun with presents, dog walked, now having a wine in the bath.

Nchanged89 · 25/12/2023 17:09

All washed up, kitchen cleared new pyjamas and dressing gown on.
Absolutely no stress.

Horrible. Full of colds, miserable. No food in as we were going out for the day. Wish it was over. My 60th birthday tomorrow, might just have a cup of tea, a sleeping pill and write it off

EllaPaella · 25/12/2023 17:17

Good for you OP - we are also having a lovely, chilled, no expectations and thus no stress day.

ManateeFair · 25/12/2023 17:22

Woke up, had a cuppa in bed, got up late, had another cuppa with lovely MIL while we watched the birds on my bird feeder, opened presents while drinking buck’s fizz, made cocktails, cooked a lovely dinner which MIL and DP haven’t stopped praising. All good 😊 Merry Christmas!

Beezknees · 25/12/2023 17:31

Had a lovely day. I have no husband or in laws, just a teen DS. I had bucks fizz for breakfast, watched Harry Potter with DS. Cooked the lunch and DS helped wash up. He's gone to chill in his room now and I'm eating chocolates and drinking prosecco. Might get the cheese board out soon.

Merry Christmas!

IShouldNotBeSurprised · 25/12/2023 18:53

I'm in the US, so it's coming up on 1pm here. Our big day was yesterday, our grown kids, their spouses, and all the grandchildren. We number 21 when all together, so it's quite an operation!

Today is just me, my husband, and our 19-year-old with Down Syndrome. We opened gifts, my husband is out doing a building check, and I'm getting some snacks ready. We already watched Elf (our daughter's very favorite movie) and will watch a combination of football and movies today. Dinner will be shrimp cocktail, broiled marinated flank steak, scallops, and leftover loaded mashed potato casserole with various snacks and goodies spread throughout the day.

Bippitybobbityboing · 25/12/2023 21:41

That's our family Christmas every year to be fair.
There's 13 of us age range 5months to 94 years.
There's never any drama or crisis.

On the flip side though, we are collectively quite boring. I love being with my family but we do have to choose suitably dull partners to fit in with the family dynamic.

SnowRoomAtTheInn · 25/12/2023 21:48

We’ve had such a nice day. I’m really grateful.
