No tears, no dramas, no ruined turkey, no A&E crises.
I feel like I'm the only one on MN to not be death staring my MIL or about to LTB.
Merry xmas to everyone, whether it's going well or gone to shit

We've had a lovely day! Extended family, lovely presents, lots of lovely food, kids playing nicely together, and I just sat and got waited on as I'm due a baby any day now.

Ours has been lovely. Just the 4 of us this year, which felt very quiet and almost underwhelming, but there have been no strops or arguing or carrying on of any kind. The worst part of the dinner, cooked mostly by dh, was the steamed veg that was still frozen in the middle. We still ate it though! The rest of the meal was delicious.

YANBU.
Every single aspect of today has just been perfect.
Every but of rush and the hours spent planning has been worth it. Seeing my 3 kids spend Every moment happy today has been amazing. I'm just so contented right now.

I also don't need to eat for a week!

My day has been my absolute favourite for a very long time.
DS slept the night through (2nd in his 20m life!)
We got up, my cold has got better throughout the day.
I played with DS most of the day.
MIL made a fabulous dinner.
The family have some lovely gifts between us. I had a little cry that my husband found a Christian dior sequin lipstick (the Christmas CD lipsticks are always so hard to find!) Which made me cry.
All in all, a really lovely day has been had by us all..

I also had a really lovely day. We had lovely presents, played some games and and then a lovely Christmas dinner - it was very chilled and just revolved around spending time together. Even the bit where we went to see my insufferable extended family for a couple of hours didn't detract from it (we found it quite funny in the end!)

I think my gratefulness level is very high this year - last Christmas I was suffering very badly with my mental health and it was a tough time. So it was extra, extra nice to be able to be present in the moment, and well, and not just be going through the motions.

We’ve had a wonderful day too. Spent with in laws who I adore and are brilliant and generous hosts. They are both elderly and not in great health but fantastic company. We had stockings before church, everyone had lovely things and were grateful for them. MIL was playing organ at church and DD (12) volunteered to page turn for her which she really enjoyed and MIL said was enormously helpful.

FIL who is now very unsteady on his feet made it to church and DS (14) tried his best at singing despite his breaking voice which he’s not quite in control of. Church were so welcoming of us as visitors and the service was comforting.

Got back and opened main presents, everyone was thankful and pleased with the effort made. We had a light lunch of smoked salmon, cheese and champagne which we all pitched in and helped with. Couple of hours napping/watching TV/DC chilling in their rooms, then we all cooked dinner together which worked out perfectly. We all cleared up together then watched Ghosts & Call the Midwife. No drama, no arguments, no disappointment or crossness. I’m feeling very blessed 😁

Fabulous day as usual.
Finally decided to get out of bed at 2.30. Had a shower then opened the presents. Ate a delicious lunch made by the husband and then lazed on the sofa with a few drinks, nibbles and music.
Perfect.

Quiet, just 4 of us. TBH, a bit quieter than I might have chosen. But it was all relaxed, peaceful and calm

Thoughtful gifts, traditional roast dinner with plenty of side dishes, time for anyone to nap, walk , jigsaws, watch TV as they wished
