My lovely 15 year old loves to watch tv shows on her phone and I recently found out that shes watching a show about cannibals! (Its called Yellowjackets) I think that this is entirely inapprotiate for her age but she doesnt seem to agree. She said that im being horrible but I think im in the right. What do you think?

WHATTTT

SadKenny · 19/12/2023 11:18

It's not a show about cannibals at all.

MackEndSea · 19/12/2023 11:19

Well of course she’s not going to agree is she?

“yes dear mother, you’re entirely correct. I shall turn off this show immediately and watch something more suited to my age of 15 years”

pablo938 · 19/12/2023 11:19

Take her phone off her, the whippersnappers these days 🙄🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒😒😒

Hahaha it's not about cannibals! It's dark and about a plane crash. They alude to cannibalism but we didn't actually find out in the first series.

It probably is too adult for her but I don't know how mature she is.

Watch it yourself before panicking! It's just a telly programme at the end of the day.

XmasSlump · 19/12/2023 11:20

I read cannabis at first. That to me is worse.

ClaireJohnson1981 · 19/12/2023 11:20

What is it about? That’s what came up what I searched it

Precipice · 19/12/2023 11:21

She's 15, not 5, and it's not a snuff film.

It's about survival after an accident a bit like the real life Uruguayan air disaster!

If only there was a way you could look up things like this on a world wide, readily available database

Seeline · 19/12/2023 11:22

British Board of Film Classification has it as a 15 so sounds OK to me

LenaLamont · 19/12/2023 11:22

They are all watching Yellowjackets. It’s a Thing this year. Calm down.

Seeline · 19/12/2023 11:22

Sounds like an updated version of Lord of the Flies which we had to read in Y7 so....

ClaireJohnson1981 · 19/12/2023 11:22

Thank you for telling me! I just worry that shes looking at murders and the like because I don’t really know much about the internet

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 19/12/2023 11:23

Okay, so at what age do you think this show would be suitable for her?
Bearing in mind this is a programme about girls her age, faced with a difficult situation, and not actually a programme about cannibals per se?

PhulNana · 19/12/2023 11:23

Please OP, get a bloody grip!

ClaireJohnson1981 · 19/12/2023 11:24

Thank you! It’s just so difficult to make sure that they are watching appropriate content these days! 😂

Educate yourself then before telling people off for posting on a public forum.

A 15 year old watches a 15 rated programme shocker

TomeTome · 19/12/2023 11:25

You should learn about the internet.

But why shouldn't she "look at murders"?

She's fifteen, not five.

ClaireJohnson1981 · 19/12/2023 11:25

Thank you everyone for all your advice, I have realised that im overreacting and will apoligise to my daughter when she gets back! x

The show is not about cannibals - it's about a sports team plane crash and what they do to survive.

But yes its a psychological drama, bordering on horror, with adult themes.

As your DD is already watching, then there isn't much you can do now apart from talk to her about it. What did she like/dislike? Perhaps get her views on the moral implications of the choices that were made.
