Is this a shit present for my dogwalker's baby?

I have bought my wonderful dogwalker a nice Christmas present: an insulated coffee cup and posh chocolates.
Then I thought I should buy a wee thing for his 11 month baby son. They're Polish and don't have family here, so it's always an extra present for under the tree.
I didn't have much to spend on this - and I haven't met the wee boy - but this is what I bought. A set of soft, squidgy, colourful plastic animals and a dinosaur book. I'm now a bit worried that it looks like a cheap and crappy gift.
In fact, I'm guessing you might not be happy with this and would prefer something classy and/or wooden.

It's absolutely lovely OP. You also sound like a lovely person.

SquashPenguin · 16/12/2023 16:05

I think that’s a really nice present!

Ukholidaysaregreat · 16/12/2023 16:06

I think both presents are really nice and thoughtful. I'm sure they won't be expecting anything at all for the baby so it will just be a lovely surprise. 🐶🐶🐶

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/12/2023 16:07

I think that's lovely .

JMSA · 16/12/2023 16:08

Ohhh, thank you so much! I shall now wrap them without hesitation Grin

Perfect present for an 11 month old.

Radiat · 16/12/2023 16:08

I’d be touched to receive a gift from anyone for my kids, especially when they haven’t met them. It’s a lovely idea, and a nice gift for a wee one.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 16/12/2023 16:09

I think that’s really cute and I’m sure he’ll love them.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 16/12/2023 16:09

That's so lovely of you!
They love colourful, squishy stuff at that age. He'll be totally made up I'm sure.

JMSA · 16/12/2023 16:14

Thank you! It occurred to me that the animals might make a good bath toy, as they have holes in the mouth for squirting water. They haven't been sold as such though, and I have distant memories of these things going black on the inside.
I'm overthinking it now, which is completely unlike me! ConfusedWink

I think it's lovely of you to think of buying his baby a present and I think the little one will love it :)

PonyPatter44 · 16/12/2023 16:43

It's a lovely present. She will be touched you thought of her son.

That's a great & thoughtful present. Amy gift is nice but you've actually thought about it & it's lovely.

Lovely and appropriate for his age, I would have been happy with that when my DS was a baby.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 16/12/2023 17:35

Perfect presents! And yes great fun for the bath. (It will go black inside eventually).

Zanatdy · 16/12/2023 17:38

It’s lovely. I usually buy a little something for dog walkers children too, they love my dog, and he loves them

Ploctopus · 16/12/2023 18:09

That’s lovely. My son was given a set of those animals as a baby and he still sometimes plays with them now at 3.

BrightGreenMoonBuggy · 17/12/2023 00:13

You’re lovely and so are the gifts you’ve picked.

LeaveBritneyAlone · 17/12/2023 00:15

Awww OP how kind!

I used to love those squishy toys for mine at that age. Mine were quite stupid babies and would always poke themsleves in the eye with those hard plastic blocks 😂

PickAChew · 17/12/2023 00:20

They're fab.

And wooden toys aren't all that, though they make great crayons and do a very efficient job of breaking windows.

namestevalian · 17/12/2023 00:29

It's absolutely lovely !

saoirse31 · 17/12/2023 01:57

Great present op!

JMSA · 17/12/2023 05:58

You are all so, so lovely. Thank you for your kind words.
Baby D's present is now wrapped Smile
