To ask advice on how to keep a shower cubicle clean?

I have a lovely new shower and don't know the best way to keep it looking good. My old one had scummy doors and sides that I just could not get to look clean. The new one will be in use daily so I need a plan to care for it. Its in a hard water area. Not a very Christmassy subject, but grateful for any advice.

I use Neat shower spray, you have to order that online though, and a squeegee after every shower. It's rare that I have water marks on the shower door.

I clean the glass with Neat glass cleaner, anyway, when I do the regular bathroom clean.

I have a sonic scrubber for all the nooks and crannies to keep on top of mouldy/black bits. When mouldy bits appears on the silicon sealant, I put cotton wool pads soaked in bleach on it, leave overnight and it works a treat.

Another vote for Method shower spray. I could literally drink the passionfruit one. It smells divine (Don't, by the way)

OK, another question for all the shower boffs. We have a curved shower tray with sliding doors. Ten years old. Glass is absolutely fine (very hard water) but the plastic edging which keeps the doors watertight is very yellow. Any tips for restoring this?

Replacements are theoretically available but there are multiple varieties which makes ordering very difficult.

Dry with microfibre cloths. They will also rub off any dirt.

Method daily shower spray after every shower. No cheaper brands - they don’t work.

That ^^ it's fantastic

Take the plastic strips off and spray mould remover or make your own solution with thick bleach and water. Leave to soak for half hour then use a small straw brush or microfibre cloth pushed in the gaps and rub along to the ends if there are any stubborn bits, this should work

White Vinegar and squeegee or Method shower spray and squeegee.

Plastic will yellow. We replace our seals every two years or so. You can't change the colour back by cleaning it.

I can't thank you enough, lovely Mumsnetters. I had never heard of Method and was only vaguely aware of squeegees (and though they were to do with car windscreens), But am ordering both, and stocking up on white vinegar too, so am confident that my new shower will stay good for a long time. I was really clueless, so thank you all.😊

Mine is a brand new shower screen and using the method spray means I can't remember the last time I actually had to clean it!

can i ask how do you keep the chrome bits clean? our shower is under a year old and i can keep the glass clean but im struggling with the chrome. also cleaning under and around the door runners i cant seem to get to it all.

Exactly this!
We had a new shower installed a few years ago and the chrome bits are probably ruined. There are clips so you can clean the under bit of the screen properly but I’ve never figure out how to do it.

My dd has her own cleaning business, she cleaned my house last week and I was amazed at how good the chrome looked, especially the shower drain cover. I asked how she’d managed it, nothing I’ve done has worked. She uses one of those white Magic Sponges! It isn’t like new but it’s a lot, lot better than it was.
