Another vote for the Iceland ones, better than M&S, Aldi, Waitrose and Tesco. Worst so far have been the deep filled Mr Kipling ones, they are really not good

Are there bad mince pies? Surely not.

Ooooh yes. Those gross icing topped ones, for starters. Tesco's are also rank IMO.

Thomas the Baker make the best ones in my opinion and are the ones we always buy but I think their shops are only in Yorkshire.

Thomas the Baker is epic. I run there every time I'm in York!

wutheringkites · 03/12/2023 17:31

Mini Sainsbury's ones warmed up and with M&S clotted cream or their Christmas Speculoos cream.

misscockerspaniel · 03/12/2023 17:33

The Coop Free From (gluten and milk free) mince pies are lovely.

MistyMountainTop · 03/12/2023 17:39

Konditor (London only, sorry) or Waitrose ordinary, not the posher ones

That are aren't they? And the brack is fab too!

Mytholmroyd · 03/12/2023 18:15

Sorry that should have said they not that! 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 03/12/2023 19:08

@Mytholmroyd totally agree, it's just shut down in our town booooo

mrssunshinexxx · 03/12/2023 19:08

Also must be warm with cream YUN

JudgementalRaccoon · 03/12/2023 19:17

I love the Sainsbury’s ones with a layer of mincemeat then a layer of frangipane.

We like the iced mince pies. It's like a toss between a mince pie and a cherry Bakewell 😍

YES!!! And a bit sickly, which means I only eat one. Unlike a normal mince pie Blush

AnotherOneGone · 03/12/2023 19:25

My favourite used to be Greggs until they changed the recipe a couple of years ago - swapped out the butter for palm oil to make them vegan. No where near as good as they were

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/12/2023 20:49

Yes o finest. Or home made.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/12/2023 20:50

Tesco

hopsalong · 05/12/2023 05:42

Gail's! But the packets are annoyingly expensive.

Delicious sugar crust which should be replicated more widely. (Have tried the recipe at home but wasn't quite the right texture.)

happyandhopefull · 05/12/2023 06:09

A big vote for Morrisons. We 'taste test' and so far they are better than Aldi, Lidl, Sainsburys and Waitrose. I'll have to try the M&S ones next.

I made my own yesterday using Sainsburys gingerbread mincemeat, nice pastry but the mincemeat was a bit disappointing.

Iwanttheraintostop · 05/12/2023 06:32

My friend gave us Konditor mince pies on Sat. They were voted the best mince pies in London and they were really good. I wouldn't be able to justify the price tag though £20 for a box of 12!!!

1975wasthebest · 18/12/2023 11:23

Gail’s. It’s crazy expensive - £3.45 each to eat in - but really good quality.

Alchemistress · 18/12/2023 11:30

M&S from the bakery, sold individually. Stupidly expensive but the pastry is incredible.
