Chocolate heaven ... what would yours be? Trying to choose one high quality box for Christmas....

loveyouradvice · 01/12/2023 10:51

Just that really... I would like to buy one really good box of chocolates to share with my husband and daughter (and the occasional honoured guest) over Christmas... pralines are our favourites, so probably just those.

Chocolates for relishing, for truly appreciating each one... I currently have my eye on Neuhaus "Les Trésors de Neuhaus" Pralines - 30 Pieces £45.00

But havent had Neuhaus before - are they really good??

And there will be other chocolates around for just sharing with the crowds - the usual Lindt, Hotel Chocolat, After 8s, Toblerone and anything else nostalgic.

What is your chocolate heaven? What are you going to indulge in?? Which are your favourite pralines?

My absolute favourite come from ArtChocolat. It’s £39.99 for 24 pieces and you can either have their selection or create your own. Loads of different flavours and they’re really pretty and colourful.

Birch101 · 01/12/2023 15:59

Leonidas were my biggest chocolate splurge

Shortbread49 · 01/12/2023 16:03

Charbonnel et Walker Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles are my absolute favourites. I'm quite relieved they're so expensive, to be honest, otherwise I'd be constantly buying them.

I love these. I haven't been able to get hold of them for a while though. Where do you get them from?

spanieleyes · 01/12/2023 16:15

Kennedy's chocolates near Tebay, sell online too! Not as expensive as some but the range is excellent

I alternate between John Lewis, Selfridges and Fenwicks depending on which is cheapest.

I ordered a box of See's Candies nuts and chews - cost me a fortune in import fees but totally worth it Grin

Yes, these are my choice.

LaChienneDesFromages · 01/12/2023 16:42

It would be Neuhaus for me. Currently enjoying a box called Les Tresors de Neuhaus. https://www.neuhauschocolates.com/en_GB/shop/les-tresors-de-neuhaus/5024338.html

DH always brings me a box by way of thanks for doing parenting double duty when he’s spent the week having a high old time working in Paris/Brussels.

haven’t tried Neuhaus but will give it a go as love praline based chocolates - looks like it’s free delivery over £50.

leonidas on my list to try also

loveyouradvice · 01/12/2023 17:15

Do you know we had Alain Ducasse easter eggs lovingly bought for me by my bro and they were hugely disappointing... quite put me off

Artisan du Chocolat have graced many of our `Christmases - agree!!

Mmmmm ... chocolates are beginning to pile up... Neuhaus ready to be opened next week... hotel chocolat expresso martini truffles accidentally opened on Sunday (darn good they were)... stuffed prunes... and some tantalising hazlenut/chestnut ones that Annalisa Barbiera recommended...a couple of toblerone... mini lindor and teddies for the tree... lindt reindeer in the hall window...

Yum!!!

How is your chocolate stash looking? xx

Ian Burnett. Buy the tasting experience, set an evening aside and enjoy it to the full. Delicious.

CactusPat · 11/12/2023 18:39

Läderach are great.

booksnbaking · 11/12/2023 18:44

Another flag-waver for Iain Burnett. I send a box to family in the UK every year (I’m in Europe so it saves any customs hassle). One year I had a brain fart and managed to put my address on the order form instead of the family member’s. Once I’d stopped banging my head against the wall and my DH had stopped royally taking the piss, we fell to and my god, they were bloody gorgeous, never tasted the like before or since. (I had wondered why the postage was so expensive 😆…)

Imo See's Candies are The Best and nothing compares.

Mumdiva99 · 11/12/2023 18:58

Compared to you Mums netters I'm easily pleased with M&S Collection Sparkling Caramels. 3 different caramel centres - soft. And they look gorgeous. And....at only £7 per box maybe, just maybe one of my kids will get me a box......but.... I don't share.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 11/12/2023 19:12

Totally biased but I think we have some really good chocolate in Ireland, most of which can be got in England too.
