Chocolate heaven ... what would yours be? Trying to choose one high quality box for Christmas....

Just that really... I would like to buy one really good box of chocolates to share with my husband and daughter (and the occasional honoured guest) over Christmas... pralines are our favourites, so probably just those.

Chocolates for relishing, for truly appreciating each one... I currently have my eye on Neuhaus "Les Trésors de Neuhaus" Pralines - 30 Pieces £45.00

But havent had Neuhaus before - are they really good??

And there will be other chocolates around for just sharing with the crowds - the usual Lindt, Hotel Chocolat, After 8s, Toblerone and anything else nostalgic.

What is your chocolate heaven? What are you going to indulge in?? Which are your favourite pralines?

I blundered around Harrods Chocolate Hall on Saturday and bought nothing. I just couldn't decide. The choice was overwhelming. It is so easy to get chocolate wrong. YANBU.

My absolute favourite come from ArtChocolat. It’s £39.99 for 24 pieces and you can either have their selection or create your own. Loads of different flavours and they’re really pretty and colourful.

The Pecan and molasses is my very fave, divine!

Malton is a great food place to visit - I recall a fabulous ice cream parlour next to the macaron
shop (which I second!)

I came on here to say Leonidas too!

I'm glad you said that as I've bought my chocolate loving SIL a box for Christmas. I'm a chocolate heathen and prefer a quality street😂

ShortColdandGrey · 11/12/2023 20:24

Leonidas. They are mine, and now my daughters special Christmas treat.

loveyouradvice · 11/12/2023 21:06

I ordered a box of See's Candies nuts and chews - cost me a fortune in import fees but totally worth it Grin

So funny - I'm American and my family have just offered to send me a box but I told them not to bother due to the fees!

To die for though. Esp the California Brittle

Iain Burnett the Highland chocolatier. He's won loads of awards and recently one of his truffles was judged best in the world at the international chocolate awards. They look really nice in the box too - highly recommended

DogsDinner · 11/12/2023 23:27

Are Hotel Chocolat not high end? They're nearly a pound a chocolate! I had them for the first time recently, and loved them, and I'm really not a big chocolate eater.

Shortbread49 · 11/12/2023 23:30

I think hotel chocolate aren’t as nice these days had some salted caramel ones that were unpleasant , another Scottish one Chocolates of Glenshiel

DahliaMacNamara · 11/12/2023 23:42

Iain Burnett sounds amazing. But I think Neuhaus will fit your particular requirements, OP.

Audrey and Charbonnel both use palm oil

What is your evidence for that?
I have checked the ingredients for Audreys dark violet creams and no palm oil- and they use the same dark chocolate for all of the others?

Hollyhobbi · 12/12/2023 03:29

@ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees have you tried Butlers green tea, salted almond crocant, pink himalayan salted caramel and raspberry pannacotta? The latte, almond cafe and cafe mocha are also delicious. Forgot to say Dunnes have some special offers on them too😁.

I’m not usually a fan of liquorice but oh my goodness the salted caramel ones are probably the nicest chocolates I’ve ever had.
