What are your timelines?
felt headachey in Saturday by Monday had what I thought was sinusitis painful face headache cough and tiredness and aches and chills
this carried on and yesterday I took a test and was positive
today iv been feeling on edge absolutely no taste or smell which is quite hard to be honest

so I’m on day 5/6 and starting to panic this is more serious what are your experiences ? Heart feels like it’s racing and I’m massively congested but my heart rate is actually ok when I check it

Had it a couple of times. Generally a mild cold like illness for a couple of days, peaks on the third day, feeling really grotty, tired, bad cough, and quite unwell. Pretty much fine from the fourth. It’s never got that bad that I’ve taken a day off work (I can WFH).

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/11/2023 18:01

Ugh, sorry to hear it.
I've had it 5x (3x this year alone).

Feb was about 6 weeks.
May was the worst at 10 weeks.
Then end July for 3 weeks or so.
The relentless cough and fatigue were brutal.
Must be unlucky. 🤷‍♀️
All you can do is rest, stay hydrated and eat what you can. I also list taste/smell.
Wear a mask when you go out.
I also did sinus rinses (like a neti pot) several times a day), used sinus decongestant spray 3 days on, three days off, and a prescription steroid sinus spray daily.
I was easily winded with activity for weeks each time after I had pretty much recovered.
If you do find trouble breathing go to hospital.
Hoping you have a quick recovery. 🩷

I was vaccinated last month but still had it last week. Symptoms were very different from previous times I’ve had it. Started with very super itchy eyes, then I felt a bit hot and cold for a day or two. When my sinuses started to ache I did a test which was strongly positive. Felt tired with a headache so had to rest up but within two days was testing negative and feeling better. So I have to assume the recent vaccine protected me from developing the worse symptoms around sore throat coughing etc that many others are experiencing. I found the itchy eyes to be the weirdest new symptom. Hope everyone feels better soon. Seems like we have stepped back in time and the virus is rampaging around again.

bouncydog · 24/11/2023 18:44

I have it now. Started with itchy eyes, sneezing, headache, sweats and chills. Spent 2 days in bed and feeling a bit better today but very tired - day 7. Test today instant positive. DH similar symptoms about 3 days behind - tested negative. I had it very early on end of 2019 probably as tested positive for antibodies and suspect at least twice more despite having 3 or 4 vaccinations. Also coughing comes out of nowhere and falling asleep at random times in the day!

Movinghouseatlast · 24/11/2023 18:47

I have just has it. My symptoms lasted for 3 hellish weeks. I was in bed for most of it. I then had 2 weeks of no symptoms but feeling terribly ill, no energy.

I'm now almost better- I feel so relieved it's gone, I was getting worried I had long Covid.

I've had it before and it was mild apart from the cough. I assume the vaccines have worn off now hence why I was so ill.

Sohelpmegod11 · 24/11/2023 21:05

thank You! Sounds exactly like mine I still have cough but feeling a bit better just no taste and smell is driving me crazy x

I hated the no smell and taste bit of it!

since Covid coffee smells really unlike coffee now, very weird and a kind of burnt smell😱

Yes! Last time I had it I kept thinking something was burning and kept checking toaster, electrical outlets, etc. That lasted at least two weeks. I was going insane!

I noticed my taste was back when I ate something I had made the day before and it was so salty! 🤢

Jk987 · 24/11/2023 22:45

You've got patience, I was fed up of it in 2020!

Hbh17 · 24/11/2023 22:58

We're all bored rigid by it, which is why nobody has bothered testing for the last 2 years - it's just not a big deal.

That pretty flip. Yes for most people it's just a pain in the arse. My friend's brother in his 30s has cardiac problems from long COVID. For some people it's a big fucking deal. I don't want to get it again, I'm scared of long COVID.

Oh do go away.
I have been massively ill from it several times as was my newborn during the first round of Omicron. When we had it in May I had dc in hospital due to an almost 40c fever that lasted 5 days.
You are lucky If you haven't had it, or have only had a mild case. Please don't minimize and belittle the experiences of so many others - including the millions of people who have died from it.

This person has always shown what a massive idiot they are, and this offering is no exception.

Tukmgru · 24/11/2023 23:41

@Hbh17 it’s less of a big deal now because most people got vaccinated because most people aren’t selfish twats. Amazing that you seem to have forgotten that it was a big deal and millions of people died from it. Cretin.

TangerinePlate · 24/11/2023 23:44

1st covid sniffles and lost taste&smell
2nd covid sniffles
3rd covid 4 days of lying in bed unable to function and still coughing. Lost weight because of not eating. Still fatigued like hell.

Why would someone be selfish for not being coerced into taking a “vaccine”?

You call others a cretin but are you even capable of independent thought?

No not "nobody".

In any case, posts like this don't help people who are ill.

This is going to sound terrible but the taste in my nose/throat is that of when you are 22 been on a bender all night and haven’t slept! Think it’s triggering me!
iv stated to feel a little better done a nasal bath (again) and although I can’t taste I can sense what’s hot, cold, spicy, sweet etc

The vaccination can only help reduce symptoms. It doesn't prevent covid.

I had it in august 2020, still can't drink coffee. Really fucking annoying.

Dafrty · 25/11/2023 03:49

@Sohelpmegod11 I currently have some god awful virus that I assumed was covid but am negative but my symptoms sound like yours. Am on day 7 and despairing, am usually not that ill with stuff. Body aches, sore throat, temperature, fatigue and dear god the sinus issues.

Sunshineguy · 25/11/2023 05:13

Interesting response. You must have a small circle of friends because we know lots of people, including children, struggling with Long Covid. One 18 year old who only developed Long Covid on his fourth infection, after three mild illnesses. That should concern us all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/11/2023 05:44

@Dafrty in my experience with testing there is a small window for accurate results, usually days 3-5 and testing 12 hrs apart. It's quite stupid, really. Even then there are so many false negatives. That is why I think it's not going away: People test, get a negative, assume it's something else and infect others. This virus is f-ing insidious.
