What are your timelines?
felt headachey in Saturday by Monday had what I thought was sinusitis painful face headache cough and tiredness and aches and chills
this carried on and yesterday I took a test and was positive
today iv been feeling on edge absolutely no taste or smell which is quite hard to be honest

so I’m on day 5/6 and starting to panic this is more serious what are your experiences ? Heart feels like it’s racing and I’m massively congested but my heart rate is actually ok when I check it

I agree I started feeling unwell late on a Sunday, had negative tests Monday and Tuesday then boom bright red positive line on the Wednesday, by then I was feeling really rough

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/11/2023 05:54

@CotswoldGal sorry you have it. Hope it passes quickly for you. 💐

Cellotapedispenser · 25/11/2023 06:01

Our house recently had it. It wasn't pleasant at all. Those of the 'it's just a cold' mindset must be very lucky when they get it because I couldn't get out of bed for two or three days and lost all taste for about 2 weeks. Prior to covid I was literally never so sick I had to sleep for two days. I felt terrible and will be avoiding crowded places to present getting it again if I can.

Had it a couple of times. Generally a mild cold like illness for a couple of days, peaks on the third day, feeling really grotty, tired, bad cough, and quite unwell. Pretty much fine from the fourth. It’s never got that bad that I’ve taken a day off work (I can WFH).

Edited

All of this. But I only tested positive when I felt better (day 4).

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 25/11/2023 21:34

I had it in the summer. No voice at all for a week, three days in bed with a high temp, fours days half in bed and half on the sofa. Loss of sense of smell, sore throat, sneezing and blocked nose for a few days, cough for maybe two weeks (was my first symptom). A month to feel back to semi normal.

Yep, just a cold 🙄

Fivety · 25/11/2023 22:18

It can be just like a cold? I’ve had it twice. The first time it was worse than flu I had a fever of 39 slept on an off for 24 hours I was vomiting and ached all over, couldn’t even use my phone , drink or eat and had to crawl to use the toilet. The second time just a normal cold. I had two jabs prior to catching it so don’t think they did much.

shivawn · 25/11/2023 22:23

I've had a couple of viruses lately, I don't even know what I've had to be honest, whether it's been covid, RSV, bad colds or whatever else. I'm a bit run down with pregnancy and anemia so I've been catching everything.

Why would someone be selfish for not being coerced into taking a “vaccine”?

You call others a cretin but are you even capable of independent thought?

Why come on and post on a support thread?
There are many anti vax threads for you to espouse on. 🤷‍♀️

It presented as a cold because you had the jabs. I have just been very ill for 5 weeks, my jabs have worn off now.

Who are you? The thread police? It’s a pity you can’t go and spread your dangerous and ill informed opinions elsewhere.

such a piss poor argument to call someone an anti-vaxxer too, there are plenty of reasons why many people have chosen not to take these recent jabs and if you bothered to read up about it you may understand why.

It’s also none of your business or anyone else’s as to why an individual makes a personal choice about what to put into their body. Or what thread to post on.

So you are so desperate to have your voice heard, you chose a thread where someone feels ill and is seeking support, and people aren't allowed to question that?

Yet you're posting your views here? 🤔
Dangerous and ill informed? Please listen to yourself. Fear mongering about science and medicine is dangerous and ill informed.
Again, millions have died from covid. The vaccine helps lessen symptoms and therefore help prevent death.

scrambledeggsonrye · 26/11/2023 16:24

First had it in 2021 and only had a stuffed up nose. I didn't feel ill and only randomly tested because I was due to go and see an elderly relative. Was really surprised when it was positive. I wasn't ill at all but I lost my smell for about 6 weeks.

Had it again at the beginning of this year. This time I had a heavy cold but on day 4 I didn't feel any better and didn't feel well enough to go to work so I took a test and yep, there it was. I was totally fine though, just a bad cold and slept a lot. Day 6 and I was grand.

Hi hope don't mind me asking as just seen this thread. Last few days have had a painful neck like you get if you sleep funny but it's all around the back of my neck now and feels so sore. Wasn't thinking much about it but just noticed I can't taste anything! Making spaghetti bolognaise for tea and just went to taste it and can't taste a thing. Dh made me a coffee with salted caramel syrup and can't taste it either. Have no tests in the house. Does the neck thing along with no taste sound like Covid? Obviously no one can tell me but if anyone else has had a bad neck too then might buy a test tomorrow. Thanks.

BeforetheFlood · 26/11/2023 16:41

Yes I'd say the sore neck and loss of taste is pretty conclusive WingingIt I'm on Day 6 now and the first 2 days I had a sore neck, though it was part of general body aches and I thought it might be because I was in bed all the time. Neck, back, hips all hurt but were much better by Day 4.

I felt pretty much ok yesterday and back almost to normal when I noticed that my sense of smell has gone. Completely, like it's been switched off. I could cry. (I have cried.)

I had that sore neck symptom with covid last May for a few days.

We're all bored rigid by it, which is why nobody has bothered testing for the last 2 years - it's just not a big deal.

My fully vaccinated DH died of it last April, so it's been quite a big deal for me.🙁

isthismylifenow · 26/11/2023 18:32

I'm really sorry @Zebedee55

@Sohelpmegod11 how are you feeling? I have tested positive for the very first time and I'm man down right now. Started around Tuesday with a sore throat, so I'm on day 5 ish now. Yesterday I lost all smell and taste, and now today my hearing. My ears are so blocked it is just awful.

I hope it passes soon, I've been in bed all weekend and on top of that it's so bloody hot as we are in a middle of a heat wave and I just cannot cool down.

I really hope tomorrow doesn't bring some other new surprise.

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 26/11/2023 18:42

Hope those of you ill now feel better soon. ((( @Zebedee55 ))) Flowers

Growlybear83 · 26/11/2023 18:51

There seems to be so much covid around again at the moment. I work for four schools and they are all struggling with huge numbers of cases among pupils and staff. I've been really lucky that I've only had it once, last summer when my mum was dying in hospital, and I don't think I've ever felt worse. Somehow my husband has managed not to catch it, but we were very very careful about mixing, wearing masks etc until relatively recently.

LambriniBobinIsleworth · 26/11/2023 18:56

I've had it seven times (yes, really). I do have a compromised immune system, but even so my experience of length of each bout has seemed fairly typical... scratchy/sore throat followed swiftly by the onset of cold symptoms, cough, snot and body aches, can't stay awake. Lasting about 7-10 days with symptoms and testing positive for about 12-14 days.

Last time I had it I had antivirals, which is the only time I've not had a rebound infection or pneumonia. Even with the antivirals it still lasted 7 full days with bad symptoms and was positive for 12 days. Every time I've been ill for at least a month after, including this last time that didn't involve an infection. Awful virus and it winds me up when people say it's just a cold.

blondieminx · 26/11/2023 19:06

YANBU. I dodged it up to now but currently on day 5 and it’s brutal. Headache that feels like someone is poking my brain with knitting needles. Feel like someone’s taken my batteries out. Coughing and wheezing. Can’t even taste a cuppa. It’s hideous.

DisquietintheRanks · 26/11/2023 19:10

I've just had it for the 5th time.

1st time: seriously ill for 3 weeks, 6 weeks convalescence, 2 years long covid.
2nd time: ill for a week, 3 weeks to recover, didn't make long covid worse
3rd time: ill for 5 days
4th time: bad cold for 4 days
5th time: 48 hours of feeling not marvellous

So it gets easier w practice.

ihatethecold · 26/11/2023 19:15

4th time for me last week.
definitely the worst experience of it. Had all jabs including the latest September one.
Didn’t help I had a virus 2 weeks previous to covid.
November I have been mostly coughing !

BeforetheFlood · 28/11/2023 15:44

I'm returning to this thread to update that my sense of smell and taste are returning already. Only three days after I completely lost both I'd say I'm 50-70% back (hard to quantify!)

I was so despondent on Saturday and really looking for positive stories so I wanted to add mine for anyone going through similar in the future.

Hope everyone else is feeling better too.
