Is it normal for Halfords not to give the manual when they’ve fitted the car seat?

just wondering as we weren’t given one and now I’m querying it?!

I’ve bought two car seats at Halfords, and both times, they gave me the instructions leaflet! Ditto roofbox!

I wouldn't have thought so, but they're all online now anyway

Have you checked behind or under the car seat? There’s a little spot the manual sits in so you don’t lose it. Google your brand to narrow it down.

Are you sure it's not in the car seat somewhere? Ours was inside it, there was a bit that opened.

Definitely google your brand of car seat - our Cybex one was very well hidden!

They are all online…just Google the make and model….there will be YouTube demonstrations as well

I would expect to be given it, you need to know how to adjust it as the child grows / how to take it in and out.

But they often have a secret little flap compartment that it hides away in.

YABU for buying a car seat from Halfords, and even more so for allowing them to fit it.

Their knowledge on car seats is minimal at best; they don’t receive car seat safety training. They’re not IOSH trained.

Ours is the same one. There should be a space/compartment at the back of the base bit.

They probably didn't give it to you because then you'd see how poorly they'd fitted it. Halfords aren't the most reliable for car seat knowledge or fitting.

@NoLostCause you mean it should come with it already there or that’s a place to put it? I’ve just checked and couldn’t see anything where the base it but potentially could go behind the seat itself? Either way it wasn’t in there when unwrapped if you see what I mean

I’ve bought a new Britax Romer and I had a QR code to scan to download the instructions and info. It might be similar with yours?

The Joie 360 has a little bit on the base that opens up, the manual is probably in there. On the back I think.

If you google the manual and look at the parts list at the start there's a diagram which points to the different parts. On mine it's figure 16. Yours might be different/not there at all though - apologies if I'm giving you wrong info!

@Christmasisonitsway ive just tried to look and can’t see anything like that… could it be the side that’s flush with the seat (it’s backwards facing currently)?

@NoLostCause thank you so much. It’s rear facing so I was looking at the side I could access, by the load leg, rather than the side that’s flush with the car. I will remove it all and check for it in the morning, thank you!!!

My car seat didnt come with a manual - just a link to the website where I could download one if needed.

That’s not my experience at all! When I bought my seat, they tried 3 different ones to make sure which one fitted the best in my car, Kristen’s very carefully to my needs, asked about the height and weight of the child who would be using it. Service was great.

Doesn't matter which way the seat is facing, the base doesn't move and yes I think the side flush against the seat. But as others have said just look online. Great choice of seat btw, we love ours.

What are you getting at? Are you implying that they are not competent to advise me on the most appropriate car seats for my needs? Or that I’m also not capable of reading up on the safety features of specific models?
