I put 18 year old malt whiskey in my hot chocolate.

Is that sacrilege?

That's all.

I have Baileys in mine tonight!

Weegieunicorn · 19/11/2023 18:46

Scottish and Canadian folk call it whisky whereas Irish and Americans add an e and therefore its whiskey (I hope I'm right)

RumJerrySailorRum · 19/11/2023 18:52

Dunno. Is it?

I can't stand whiskey/whisky

Did you enjoy it??

If so, then no. It's probably not.

AnotherCountryMummy · 19/11/2023 18:52

These responses have made me laugh 😃 and I'm glad of all the support.

It was bloody delicious! My husband was horrified. I don't care.

It's been a tough day with a toddler and I feel miles better, so five star recommend from me!

Slightly sacrilegious in my view - but glad you enjoyed it, it wasn’t wasted!

Moonshine5 · 19/11/2023 18:57

Not at all

DailyMailHater · 19/11/2023 18:57

Depends on the whisky I love whisky and some 18 year old whiskeys go for £85 up to the hundreds - I wouldn’t put them in a hot chocolate as I would to enjoy them as they are.

but I would put somehthing cheaper in a hot chocolate

valorie · 19/11/2023 18:59

Sacriligeous?

Depends if it was whiskey or whisky. ;)

Toottooot · 19/11/2023 18:59

Fit distillery is it fae?

Oopsadaisysgranny · 19/11/2023 19:00

No do it ! I have inherited lots of vintage spirits which I wouldn’t drink near so I use them in hot chocolate desserts ect

Seeline · 19/11/2023 19:02

My mum won a v posh bottle of brandy in a raffle. No one in the house drank brandy so it went in her homemade Christmas pudding every year until it ran out. There was nothing like her Christmas pud 😁

Scruffington · 19/11/2023 19:05

I'm partial to a slug of kahlua or cointreau in my hot chocolate

It is the ultimate blasphemy.

I bet it was wonderful.

DaftyInTheMiddle · 19/11/2023 19:13

The only way to drink whisky is however you want to.

Personally I’m not a fan of hot chocolate but if you enjoyed it, that’s all that matters.

@moggerhanger polish cherry vodka is amazing, and I’m not a vodka fan. Oh I need some now it’s been so long.

OneLollipop · 19/11/2023 19:17

@moggerhanger

I have no time for whisky snobs getting precious about not even putting so much as a dribble of water in.

Proper whisky snobs would insist you put in a dribble of water! (The molecules are hydrophobic, you can taste and smell a lot more when you add a few drops of water.)

Ice cubes, though, you must NEVER put in ice cubes. On the rocks is Not Allowed 😉

Aurasauras · 19/11/2023 19:21

Was it good?

Aberlour is the best 😋

Reigateforever · 19/11/2023 19:30

The only thing that goes with a whisky is more whiskey, in a glass warmed in my hands.

Chocolate why on earth…. ? 😢

Reigateforever · 19/11/2023 19:33

whisky sorry

TheChosenTwo · 19/11/2023 19:35

I always think it’s best to use ‘the best’ in everything we eat and drink. What’s the point in having the nice stuff otherwise? Like people who buy cheap wine for cooking with but only drink the good stuff - if I’m buying wine for anything I’m buying nice wine, not crap wine!

Glad you enjoyed your hot chocolate, I don’t usually drink it but dd and I got amaretto hot chocolates by the seaside in January and on my god it warmed our cockles on the way back! Lovely 😊

RattlewhenIwalk · 19/11/2023 19:36

In a word yes!

Gnomegnomegnome · 19/11/2023 19:40

I’ve never had an alcoholic hot chocolate but I’m tempted by pps cherry vodka or rum suggestions.

bombastix · 19/11/2023 19:44

Well maybe you are going to Scots hell, but I like your style
