Have you had the flu jab this year?

Been struggling to get the flu jab this year, local pharmacists seemed to have stopped doing them already. Just wondering if I should keep trying or give up. Early 40s and have had the jab the last couple of years. Have most people had it this year?

I had it through work (NHS) along with covid jab, sorry not sure that’s helpful to you though! Hope you find one

Yes in September through my GP. DH had his last week at work.

Meredusoleil · 18/11/2023 20:48

I had mine back in September. Always book early in July/August with Boots as soon as they announce the appointments are on the system.

PriOn1 · 18/11/2023 20:50

Had mine as a walk in at Boots yesterday, so obviously still available in some places.

AuntieMarys · 18/11/2023 20:50

Yes..last month at pharmacy

Growlybear83 · 18/11/2023 20:52

I noticed two pharmacies today who were advertising that they had the vaccine in stock. I had mine in late September, a week after my Covid jab.

Cloud44 · 18/11/2023 20:53

I ll keep looking, the local ones have said they have stopped now though. Maybe was a bit late trying this year.

Yes, but I'm 'vulnerable' so get called up.

friend had hers at a walk up today. Another last eeek at a clinic the local surgery was going.

i think you just need to keep ringing around.

its definitely not too late.

Coolblur · 18/11/2023 20:55

I haven't been offered th flu jab or the covid one yet, I get them every year as I'm immunosuppressed. Maybe supply isn't keeping up with demand this year.

Cloud44 · 18/11/2023 20:55

Does anyone know how effective this years one is meant to be?

I usually travel to the next big town an hour away to get mine early in the season, none of them had any appointments this year. But strangely for once the nhs actually booked me in for september which is absolutely unheard of in the 10 years I've been entitled.

I'd absolutely try look further out if you're able too, I got pneumonia, sepsis and a collapsed lung from flu 5 years ago, totally fit and healthy 32yo.

ScrubMommy · 18/11/2023 20:58

Yes, a while back.

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 18/11/2023 20:58

I can't get an appt till mid December for my flu and Covid jags.

LisaD1 · 18/11/2023 20:59

Yes had it a couple of weeks ago. Went to get my Covid one and they offered flu at same time (local pharmacy)

DramaAlpaca · 18/11/2023 20:59

Yes, in Boots a couple of weeks ago.

StarDolphins · 18/11/2023 20:59

I got a text at 4.40pm last night about mine so rang up & they booked me in for this morn for mine. They’re late though, they usually text in sept/oct

Mamato29192 · 18/11/2023 21:00

Yes but only because I'm pregnant

wokbun · 18/11/2023 21:00

Yes in September keep trying

You won't be offered it as such probably. Our GP just sends out general messages saying jabs are available to those eligible.
Our local pharmacy was doing walk ins yesterday - flu for NHS or paid, COVID for those eligible.

You just need to book the flu via a chemist and covid via the online service you don't need/should not wait for a letter.

Blanketpolicy · 18/11/2023 21:02

Ive got mine booked for Monday, Scotland NHS. It was booked for last month but I caught a bad cold and was in bed so couldn't go and this was the earliest I could rebook for.

TheresaCrowd · 18/11/2023 21:04

No, I don't want one. I keep getting offered from GP and through work though.

AhhSlippedOnMahBeansRitaaa · 18/11/2023 21:12

I had mine at Asda if you’ve a local one with a pharmacy in.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 18/11/2023 21:13

Yes, went for my Covid jab in late September and was offered the flu one at the same time. I'm what they call vulnerable so I probably get invited early.

Friends and neighbours seem to getting theirs so maybe there is a regional factor.
