As the title says.

I don't want to go to Dreams (the salesman called me fat, and I am too embarrassed to go back there and also don't want to give him my custom). AIBU?

I then bought a Simba mattress - we've had it for about a month but my back is in agony.

Now I'm looking for a mattress I can try out rather than buy from online.

Thank you

Good grief that's appalling about the salesman. Did you complain?

I went to John Lewis.

Papyrophile · 17/11/2023 15:20

We went to Furniture Village.

Pleaseletitbebedtime · 17/11/2023 15:20

Ikea

Papyrophile · 17/11/2023 15:21

ANd bought a Vi-Spring. It's fantastic! And lots of new pillows, also wonderful.

Scampuss · 17/11/2023 15:23

Mine is a Premier Inn Hypnos, having had many Premier Inn stays it was well tested before buying!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/11/2023 15:24

He did whaaaaat? OMG!

Anyway, when you find somewhere try to find a Myers mattress. I’ve got degenerative disc disease in my spine and need a really stable, but not too firm, mattress. Tried so many out uk stores, some of them mega expensive too, and none of them were good for me. In desperation ordered a Myers firm online and it’s heaven and as a bonus was reasonably priced too.

Otty. Love it

Emma

we loved ours so I never looked into this further but noticed they do give you a 200 night trial.

SALWARP2023 · 17/11/2023 15:28

Benson sometimes offers to have mattress returned if you aren't happy.

MotherofPearl · 17/11/2023 15:31

John Lewis.

Whataretheodds · 17/11/2023 15:33

John Lewis. It is DREAMY and the staff were really helpful.

HelgaPatakisDiary · 17/11/2023 15:33

Got mine from Emma. Love it

BerriesCones · 17/11/2023 15:40

Ikea. I think it was called Hovag. I love pocket sprung mattresses. So comfortable

defi · 17/11/2023 15:43

Carpet right

TotalOverhaul · 17/11/2023 15:44

John Lewis. We tried loads and ended up with the Emma as it was the only one which properly supported my side of the bed when Dh flopped down on his side. Took some getting used to and we nearky sent it back several times as it stank for ages - weeks longer than the '24 hours to air' they suggested. and the smell triggered my asthma. But it went eventually and is now really comfortable.

BoohooWoohoo · 17/11/2023 15:47

IKEA

Octavia64 · 17/11/2023 15:47

John Lewis, also ikea is good.

You can try them out.

MyAnacondaMight · 17/11/2023 15:54

John Ryan. I think it was recommended here. One of the few places that show you what you’re paying for, in terms of construction and materials.

Lulu1919 · 17/11/2023 16:18

IKEA

Best bed we've ever had!

greenacrylicpaint · 17/11/2023 16:30

ikea

Janeandme · 17/11/2023 16:34

What? The salesman called you fat? He actually said that?

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 17/11/2023 16:36

Ours is Brook and Wilde and it’s the best thing ever!

I think they are only online though, so maybe try John Lewis.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/11/2023 16:37

IKEA, mainly because of my staff discount. It's super comfy though

ComtesseDeSpair · 17/11/2023 16:38

Our mattresses are Ikea. I’ve tried more expensive ones from elsewhere in AirB&Bs or friends’ guests rooms and have never been that impressed for the price point.

Did they call you fat or did they advise that somebody large and heavy would do better with X type of mattress because of better support or weight distribution?
