to ask where you bought your mattress from?

As the title says.

I don't want to go to Dreams (the salesman called me fat, and I am too embarrassed to go back there and also don't want to give him my custom). AIBU?

I then bought a Simba mattress - we've had it for about a month but my back is in agony.

Now I'm looking for a mattress I can try out rather than buy from online.

Thank you

We went to a local shop the owners work on the shop floor they have two locations near us. Fantastic service lovely bedroom furniture we bought a bed frame and a mattress.
The frame is still holding up 8 years later but I fancy a new mattress when we decorate so will go back to the same shop.

Dreams. Sorry not helpful, but as a hater of memory foam there was only one mattress they could sell me, budget price and it’s lasting very well.

The Iron Bed Company, hand-made pocket-sprung and a dream.
Mind you, it cost a small fortune, but well worth it.

We got ours at John Lewis and we love it! It's super comfy!

Mattress Man, the first mattress we ordered wouldn't go up the stairs (despite the very best efforts of the driver and his mate) so they took it back and refunded us. Luckily the Premier Inn Hypnos we then ordered from them did go up, it's been a fantastic mattress.

Warren Evans . Excellent quality and service.

And weirdly I have received an email from them today with a 5% off code.

If it is of any comfort to you OP I ordered from John Ryan about five years ago after a horrible experience with Bensons for Beds. I tried the Bensons for Beds mattress in the shop and it felt fine. When it arrived it was like lying on a concrete block. Horrible. So I gave it to a friend who loves a harder than hell mattress.

Ordered online with John Ryan and someone rang me and asked about my weight, what position I usually sleep in etc and then said that I should order their cheapest mattress as it would most suit me and my husband (ex now!). The delivery was without any issues at all and the mattress was so good that I ordered two more for the other beds in my house.

We got ours from The Original Bed Co, we did make an error in getting a firm though. A mattress topper sorted that though.

Got mine from Dreams. Nice sales person, good service, great mattress. I think you have just been unlucky.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 17/11/2023 17:22

The premier Inn hypnos. So good the dc all have one now too. I think it had changed though, they are silent night ones now.

Libertass · 17/11/2023 17:25

John Lewis. Their mattresses are made in the U.K., so we specifically wanted to support British jobs if possible.

Our mattresses are Ikea. I’ve tried more expensive ones from elsewhere in AirB&Bs or friends’ guests rooms and have never been that impressed for the price point.

Did they call you fat or did they advise that somebody large and heavy would do better with X type of mattress because of better support or weight distribution?

That certainly would have been a better way to put it!
However he used the word fat, multiple times. And said he's sure I'll lose some weight and can appreciate I haven't started to lose any weight just yet given my baby was only a couple months old etc

DO NOT buy an Emma.

They bribe people to change their reviews. Ours came with a stain. Wouldn’t talk to us for 6 months until DP wrote a scathing review. Wouldn’t replace. Sent a shitty piece of flimsy foam (not the topper they sell which we assumed it would be) without changing to 5 star.

Scam company imo

Mine is a Premier Inn Hypnos, having had many Premier Inn stays it was well tested before buying!

@OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea
How much did your premier Inn mattress cost?
I can't find the price on their website.

I think it was £500ish for a double.

As someone above said, their beds are no longer supplied by Hypnos, so possibly not such a good deal:

We have an Emma and have loved it. Great mattress.

takemeoutonight · 19/11/2023 02:16

Mine is a Dreams one and the service from them was incredibly good. Really professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
Please tell us you complained about the guy who served you? It's not acceptable at all and a real shame since their mattresses are great. I need an extra firm and theirs is the only one that felt good to me.
