I really like the concept of these crazy shoes, vibram 5 fingers.

Anyone know about them?

A friend of mine has them.

She loves them but says it does take time for your feet to get used to them.

Not for me, it I know a few people who swear by them. If you all want them and can afford it go for it!

why are you loooking for minimalist shoes & what makes them minimalist? Or do you mean just having fewer shoes?

if that's what you mean, I'm not sure these fit the bill.

Will they be warm enough without socks or do you plan to buy several new pairs of toe socks etc?

minimalist shoes are shoes without any heel or cushioning, with a max 6mm sole.

Are they still around? At least here in the US they peaked around 17 years ago.

We bought some, for dh and dc (who are used to being barefoot most of the time). They didn't work for them as they took way too long to put on (it's quite fiddly), so the dc found them annoying. Dh just didn't find them comfortable enough.

I liked the idea, but in practice they were annoying.

I will probably buy some now!

Fine for the beach, anywhere else they'll look stupid.

What do you do about socks though?

How do they work if you stand on pebbles, glass broken in the street, mud puddles, snow? I can’t imagine they’ll last if I’m honest.
