Smoking weed from morning to night, every day, when you have children to look after is wrong.

A couple I know abuse cannabis. I do believe there's a difference between people who occasionally partake on the weekend, or when their children are not about, or people who require and use it medicinally.. and people like the ones I'm describing who abuse it to this extent.

I'm sure most people have atleast tried weed, I certainly have when I was younger, but these people smoke it from morning until night and centre their whole lives around it.

First thing in the morning the dad is rolling up and hanging out of the kitchen window with bed head puffing away. This continues throughout the day. He comes and goes in his car, clearly high as a kite.

The mum is exactly the same. They both stink of it so the children must too. Why normalise drug abuse around your young children?

AIBU to think it's wrong?

Of course it’s unreasonable, I can’t imagine anyone would say otherwise

LlynTegid · 11/11/2023 14:00

He drives whilst you believe him to be on drugs. Contact the police now, before someone is injured or killed.

rockingbird · 11/11/2023 14:03

For a short while last year I lived in a flat above a family who did this.. the stems h coming through to my flat was bloody awful 🤢 one Saturday they had an almighty bust up, myself and several others called the police. Turns out they were raided, kids taken (including a tiny baby) and both arrested. A little now and again away from kids fair enough but 24/7 around kids is totally unacceptable.

Ponoka7 · 11/11/2023 14:05

Why haven't you reported him for drug driving? That's wrong.

sipsqueak · 11/11/2023 14:17

The chronic, recreational use of any substance that impairs one's faculties is problematic and obviously if they're doing that while in charge of their kids and/or driving their car there is a real risk of harm. Plus, weed stinks and smoking a joint first thing in the morning and all day long is just rank. Some people are idiotic and completely irresponsible. I hope someone intervenes for the sake of those kids

420no · 11/11/2023 15:18

I already have reported him for drug driving but nothing ever came of it. I don't even know if they checked it out.

Report again, if you think nothing is being done, also report to the Police and Crime Commissioner and the DVLA.

I reported via crimestoppers as I was reluctant for the police to have my details incase they somehow found out it was me who reported it.

If he was stopped for drug driving would the police say there had been a report or would they act as though its a random spot check?

They may have legal medical prescriptions, in which case there is nothing you can do

They definitely don't 😁

My DH smoke's weed, he's the best dad a kid could ask for. He's fully able to do everything, he looks after our medical dependent child and is completely fine.

Maybe stop curtain twitching and worry about yourself could be worse they could be raging drunks having fist fights every night.

They do having raging fist fights.

Does your DH smoke weed from morning until night and drive his children around whilst stoned? I'm assuming not, in which case I have no idea why you're offended on his behalf as in my OP I explained that I realise there's a difference between casual smoking and abuse of it. If he does, well, I don't know what to tell you 😵‍💫

Do you live in their house? How do you know so much? Have spy cameras up? 😂 the mind baffles.

Maddy70 · 11/11/2023 17:11

Are the kids happy , well and looked after?

The police don't care about people smoking in their own homes.

Directly above them.

My flat stinks of weed on a daily basis thanks to them and many a night my own children have been woken up by them knocking bells out of one another when pissed.

I wish I didn't know and have to deal with all of that crap.

the fist fights are the bigger problem in this home.

Of course it’s not ideal for people to be smoking while looking after children but many people function perfectly well after smoking weed because they’re used to it.

I rarely see them to be honest so I haven't a clue.

Of course it's wrong to be smoking illegal drugs all day around children. Just keep reporting it op. Makes me laugh Mumsnet is a weird place and you'll be told you're being nosey 🤷🏻 and yet someone will post saying they drink a bottle of prosecco a week and flamed for being an alcoholic incapable of looking after children.

Maddy70 · 11/11/2023 17:16

So you didn't know what's going on at all. You're just making assumptions. Mind your own business. You don't know he's smoking and driving. He is probably having a fag before he drives not a spliff

Report to school safeguarding or school nurse/health visitor.

Give over. I know a damn sight more about it than you do. I've been putting up with their anti social behaviour for months.

I don't think the children are there full time.

Regrettably no because I'd worry about the ramifications for me and my own family. They would know where it's come from.

It's not a one way thing, the woman is worse than the man sometimes.

It's very unusual for stoners to be heavy drinkers as you suggest.

The weed wouldn't bother me but I can't understand why you haven't reported domestic violence
