Where can I go for 4K in December/January?

Just that really. Got a budget of 4K and a family of 5. Is there anywhere SUNNY that I can go for this money? We’ve not had a holiday since 2017 and this year the children break up on 22nd Dec which means we can see family first and do the Christmas stuff and then go on holiday.

We have to stick to Christmas holidays. Family of 5 is VERY different to taking a family of 4, I’m finding.

Finding it tricky, to be honest. Does anyone have any bright ideas? Have I left it too late?

Canaries, Egypt, Jordan, Azores

Forsakenalmosthuman · 09/11/2023 19:52

Portugal? Went in December a few years ago. I don't know if it was a fluke but the weather was gorgeous and we all had a great time.

I’ve had a quick look on TUI for you.

There are plenty of holidays coming in at around £4,000 to Egypt. It’s around 24 degrees in December/January.

Thank you so so much @Vivi0 I really love it when kind people like you have a look at stuff like this. (some people are really good at finding deals- I’m apparently not!)

I do have a problem, though. When I enter my DC ages (8,5,3) most of these places say I need two rooms. I can’t seem to get anything under 4K.

But the hotels I’ve been looking at say I need two rooms, so these places never come in under 4K for me.

I wouldn't be going near Egypt at the moment, personally.

Mysteriousgirl2 · 09/11/2023 20:06

@VickyEadieofThigh Yes I hear you and I agree.

Hope this link works!

Sort them from low to high.

Vivi0 · 09/11/2023 20:10

You can also mess around with the date.

I can see one there flying out on 24th Dec which is under £4,000.

wishingchair1 · 09/11/2023 20:11

The link I sent has a family interconnecting room. Gets great reviews.

Vivi0 · 09/11/2023 20:11

What date do you have to return by?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/11/2023 20:15

I think most places will want you to have two rooms or a suite of some kind.

Does it have to be a hotel or can you do a villa type option?

Selinaserena · 09/11/2023 20:18

I would avoid Egypt and Jordan at the moment.

Turnthelightoff · 09/11/2023 20:18

You might need to go self catering in an apartment which has 2 bedrooms at least

Spudlover · 09/11/2023 20:30

I second the self catering apartment, it’s what we did when the kids were young.

How about Cape Verde? It’s still 25 degrees in December and you could get a lovely apartment. There are lots on Expedia, this is an example.

Obviously flights on top but you could probably design your own package through Expedia.

Canaries. Self catering.

HIC2020 · 09/11/2023 22:04

Tunisia? We're going next week, 2 adults Tui adults only for just over 1k. I'm sure you'll be able to find a family deal under 4k😊.

Wittow · 09/11/2023 22:23

Why don't you use an actual travel agent???

Issue is that the pools in these locations are not heated.

Azores is also cold.

Tinytigertail · 09/11/2023 22:28

Goa is lovely at that time of year and you can get some real bargains.
