Evri missed delivery / not able to deliver

MamaInManolos · 26/10/2023 09:12

Hi, I had an Evri delivery scheduled for yesterday evening 20.00-21.00.
House and front porch was lit up, car in the drive, no TV or sound so we could listen out for the front door - have a loud door knocker, and I waited for the driver. We are in the front room so can hear the door if anyone is knocking and see anyone approaching. Heard not a peep, no one at the door making any sound and then...got a Evri email at 20.10 so they couldn't deliver as no one was in, will attempt delivery the next working day - today. Typical and so annoying as we were obviously in and I was listening out intently, deliberately keeping sound to a minimum as to not miss the door. We didn't hear anyone knock on the door, so ran out like a shot the minute the email pinged with the message notification, but couldn't see them outside parked up or any sign of a car/van driving off.
Today, this morning (Thursday 26th October) I get another Evri update on email saying they are unable to deliver today, there is a delay with the parcel, but don't worry we will send an update next Wednesday 1st November on your delivery!! It was meant to be delivered yesterday, so really unsure why they can't deliver today or even tomorrow Friday being a working day, why are they saying next update will be next Wednesday 1st November?!! It is an ASOS dress to wear to a wedding this weekend! (a dress for a guest). Admittedly, I ordered it rather late on Sunday night, as a last minute decision, but the ASOS due date given was Wednesday (25th) this week so thought it would be okay and arrive on time! And true to their word, they did have it out on route for delivery yesterday Wednesday 25th..
Anyone else had these issues whereby they said they couldn't deliver when you are actually in and waiting and the front door isn't knocked/rung, and then, have to wait another week for an update, when there's opportunity for it to be delivered sooner i.e, 2 days left of the working week to do a 2nd attempt (3rd if need be)? Do they change this and can deliver earlier than the update says? Will they try and deliver today / tomorrow instead of waiting until next week, as I understand they are meant to attempt to deliver again on the next working day? Help!! TIA

Depends on where you live but people on our local FB group often ask of anyone knows the Evri delivery driver so they can contact them direct and sort it out.

Doubleespresso23 · 26/10/2023 09:26

Yes I have this issue literally every time Evri are used. The name is quite fitting because there is Evri chance of not getting your parcel. They are shit to deal with OP you literally can’t contact them. Sorry I couldn’t help and I hope it arrives soon

Angryappendix · 26/10/2023 09:27

I would order it again and pay for next day delivery.

Sounds like you paid for standard delivery which I would never rely on if I needed some thing for a certain date but still they have let you down as it shouldn’t take over a week!
It might not even fit then you’ll need chance to find another dress anyway.

Angryappendix · 26/10/2023 09:28

You could maybe contact asos chat first and ask for a free next day delivery code as you’ve been let down, worth a try.

Ktime · 26/10/2023 09:30

If you ordered on Sunday, the parcel is quite late. 1 November is REALLY late.

I would ask ASOS to help, maybe they will do you a free next day delivery.

To counter the Evri hate, my local Evri driver is ace. Even with a bad leg he delivers everything when it says he will and he’s friendly too.

Hey thanks, yh I probably should have signed up and paid for ASOS Premium and got the next day delivery option. Just never in all my 15 years ordering with ASOS, had it not arrive or arrive later than the date they gave (so I guess it's about time it happened to me lol!). This is a dress style I've had before just in a different print design and colour so know the size will fit (Hopefully!). No longer have this dress and nothing else I have is really appropriate. Hoping they can deliver before the weekend obviously, but otherwise will just have to do the old fashioned way and venture out to the shops last minute!!

EVRI is absolutely useless, I've never had a good delivery with them. One time they actually threw a parcel into the field next to my house and I only received it because a walker spotted it and picked it up and realised it was addressed to my house, it was soaked, and the time before that they delivered a parcel to an abandoned overgrown phonebox round the corner from my house. I sent a lot of cross emails in the space of two weeks!!

looking4pup · 26/10/2023 09:45

Can you go online and ask Evri?

I wish I could order it again and do this, but the dress is now out of stock! (in all sizes) 🙈 oh man, nightmare!!
Thank you for the tips and advice everyone!

Evri have a lot of pick up /drop off spots, particularly tesco / tesco express and onestop shops . Can you amend your delivery address to your nearest one and go and pick it up.

Teaandbiscuits60 · 26/10/2023 10:36

I had a nightmare with my Hello Fresh who use Evri for deliveries. The last time they said they were ‘unable to deliver’ but they never came! Retired, big picture windows etc., quiet house could see them coming so I knew they were trying to blame me for their mistake. Sure enough Evri “missorted” my parcel and COULDN’T deliver. Hello fresh offered me £50 refundable on their food service but didn’t want to refund that delivery!! I insisted on a refund and will never use that meal company again. It’s impossible to contact Evri and my other experience with then has not been good.

AllBlackEverything · 26/10/2023 11:35

Our local Evri driver lies. I always get an email saying that they were unable to access the property, yet we have multiple cameras and can see that they simply haven't bothered to make the trek out to us. It's infuriating.

JulesGeebee · 26/10/2023 20:01

Evri are abysmal. I had one delivery where they couldn’t find the house (huge number on gate) but somehow took a pic of themselves holding the package standing on corner of the road. Package then entered the twilight zone for 2 weeks before the retailer managed to get it sorted. Next 3 items ordered were ‘returned to sender’ by some mystery entity-one of them before it even arrived in the country and another recent order missing in action for 3 weeks so cancelled and got refund. The wasted time spent trying to get sense out of the chat bot was soul destroying. Have decided. It to order from anyone who uses Evri anymore.

OP I hope you have better luck 🍀

JulesGeebee · 26/10/2023 20:03

PS and when I amended address for one item they couldn’t even get it to the pick up point at the local shop….

lamalamalamasquirrel · 26/10/2023 20:03

They've lost it

Good idea

I always worry when it says Evri (terrible reviews) but they've actually been ok-although I did get the "we couldn't deliver today" one time, but our house is hard to find. It's also very worrying you can only talk to a bot when you go on their site. So many companies are using them lately I've found so they are almost impossible to avoid.

Iris1976 · 26/10/2023 20:40

This happened to me with evei delivery of Asda items, delivery was never made after and still owed £20 that I'll never get back.

MamaInManolos · 26/10/2023 22:08

UPDATE..
Evri ended up emailing this morning to say they are in fact delivering today (Thursday 26th). Window given again for tonight between 20.00-21.00. Sat by front door, (yes it's come to that!), the porch and house lit up like Blackpool Illuminations! Even put a sign on the front door addressed '' to the Evri driver, please knock loudly, I'm in waiting to collect my parcel! ''
Well, they emailed at 20.27 saying they successfully delivered! Had they..? No, they hasn't, I ran outside to check as soon as I got the email notification, no parcel, no one there, no van or car, nothing. I checked neighbours driveways, doorsteps under cars, in bins.. Nothing.
I cannot believe it.
No proof of delivery given. No emailed photo evidence or signed signature e or GPS map tracking.
I've raised a complaint amd investigation with ASOS and Evri separately and hopefully both will look into this with each other tomorrow. I think my parcel has been delivered to somewhere else and they are enjoying a free new dress, or probably will sell it to get money. Shame on them if this is what's happened or Evri drivers saying its delivered and then keeping parcel contents to sell on.. I am soooo angry, and still have no dress for this Saturday's wedding. Will have to go out tomorrow, to find something last minute, cancel the plans I did have to do this. And have a 8 month old baby in tow, not ideal.

They won't have even attempted delivery - the driver will have marked it as delivered in order to get paid for it.

We get this and then it generally arrives the next day.

This is interesting.. If this is what they do, it's literally raising unnecessary stress and worry for no reason. In my case anyway. Maybe it will turn up tomorrow, I hope it does if this is the 'norm'.. I'll update this happy outcome of it turns out this way for my delivery. Do they give a delivery window for the next day in this situation, or just deliver it then randomly? Thank you for your message, encouraging.

We are rural and our Evril driver waits until he has enough parcels to make it worth his while coming out to the sticks to deliver

This means we get a few "XXXX couldn't find the house" - when I know he can as he has been several times

However given how little they earn, we all understand and he does put parcels in sensible places (not like some)

So if it's urgent , you pay for next day and hope!

margotrose · 26/10/2023 23:10

Normally a delivery window but it never arrives in that window 🙈

The other day I got an email saying failed to deliver then another one a minute later saying delivered and it was there.

A few week before I had one saying it had been delivered but it didn't actually arrive until the next day.

They've never lost a parcel, they just never arrive on time!

NotTerfNorCis · 26/10/2023 23:19

I had a bad experience with Amazon and Evri last year. A large parcel (piece of furniture) showed up damaged, so I had to send it back. A guy from Evri turned up to collect it and said it wouldn't fit in his car, but he'd make sure a van was sent. The next two days, Evri sent notifications claiming they were arriving. Each time I sat waiting for them and each time they updated the web page to say either I hadn't been in, or the parcel hadn't been properly packaged. Basically it'd been the same guy in his car, and he couldn't take it, but he didn't want to come to the house. It was the lies that got me. I had to call Amazon a few times to sort it all out - with a different delivery company.
