I see some videos on tik tok of dancing and singing etc - is this a thing ? Seems some people are moaning about it in comments.
are the cinemas actively liking /encouraging it or does it depend on if everyone agrees who is there watching and it could be as simple as having to sit and watch in silence ?
my 10 year of DD wants to go but she expects dancing and singing 🤣

Was thinking of going today but at cineworld it's £20 for an adult ticket!!!

Melonhead89 · 14/10/2023 12:54

@redsky21 yeh our vue which is usually 6.99 for any ticket any time … is 19.99 !

It got a great review in the Times yesterday and apparently there was much audience participation. I imagine it depends on which showing you go to though. I’m planning to go on Thursday afternoon which will probably be a sedate affair 😉.

Screenings of events are always more expensive than going to see a regular film. I love them because you get a great view and get the experience for a fraction of the price and trouble of attending a massive concert. Some will say it lacks atmosphere. Horses for courses.

Homeymum2 · 15/10/2023 22:20

Apparently the tickets are 19.89 because of the album title-

Us suckers paid £19.89 while in the states it was only $19.89

Taylor set the price not the cinema

trevthecat · 15/10/2023 22:39

Me and dd went Friday night. Big fans anyway. Loved it. But it's nearly 3 hours and no interval!

ShitMermaid · 15/10/2023 22:42

I saw it this afternoon and there were only about 20 people and it was very quiet. A few of us sang along quietly. No one was up dancing around.
I loved the film, I would 100% recommend it.

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 15/10/2023 22:48

Nobody sang or danced when we went. It was awesome though.

MalibuBetty · 15/10/2023 22:58

Saw it this evening. It was brilliant and thankfully no one was singing or dancing.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 15/10/2023 22:59

It was brilliant and we got the souvenir merchandise so happy teenagers!
adults were £19.89 (after the album) and kids £13.13 (Taylor’s favourite/significant number)
clever marketing but made it an expensive evening!!
Not much singing in the one we went to as was quite quiet as was later but the showing before was apparently just like a concert with singing and dancing

My friend went to an afternoon showing today. She said it was packed and everyone sang along and danced in their seats.

AngeloMysterioso · 15/10/2023 23:03

I went to the 8pm showing last night. No dancing but to be fair there was only about 10 of us in there- not surprising when, with adverts and trailers added, it’s a 3 hour show!

MooFroo · 15/10/2023 23:03

Went today and was v quiet - not even a fifth full in a city centre cinema.

brillaint movie and Taylor is amazing!
as an experience, it wasn’t that great and felt a rip off - DD paid £25 for pop corn and drink to get it in Taylor merch 😫

Fizbosshoes · 15/10/2023 23:04

DD went with a friend on Friday. She said everyone was singing and dancing for the last song

Fizbosshoes · 15/10/2023 23:05

DD and friend bought Taylor cups (empty) for £4 which i didn't think was too outrageous

Lyricallie · 15/10/2023 23:10

Just got home from it with my friends, we’re all millennials so it was great. But not up and dancing our cinema in as about 1/3 full. Little bit of singing along.

U2HasTheEdge · 15/10/2023 23:39

I have just been. It was amazing, but there were only 5 other people there!

pastypirate · 15/10/2023 23:42

Dd2 who is 10 and 9 of her pals went on opening night. It's was £13.50. They had the time of their lives!!! Worth every penny.

We have been to NT live before and dd said it was much the same - like being at the concert except you can see better!

CrapBucket · 15/10/2023 23:43

I haven’t been but why don’t the cinemas badge some showings as ‘sing a long’ and some as ‘quiet audience’ then everyone would have the experience they preferred?!

LarryStylinson · 16/10/2023 00:11

We went last night. Cinema packed and lots up at the front dancing and singing. Others standing up dancing at their seats

This

it’s wonderful but I’d like a showing where I can hear Taylor properly.

I asked about half term for this reason. Trying to figure out how to get the best chance of going again with a quiet audience.

Rockbird · 16/10/2023 00:30

Went with dd1 on Friday evening. It was a pretty sedate affair, we sang along with a few others and did a bit of dancing in our seats. DD was disappointed in the quiet audience but we both loved the show and will probably go again.

Challengingtimesnow · 16/10/2023 01:26

Went Saturday to evening with DH and 9 year old. I know it’s a 12A - we had briefed her beforehand and she knows our expectations and rules regarding swearing.

Anyway, the cinema staff were actively encouraging us to dance. They stood between the screen and first row of seats dancing and gesturing to join in.

As soon as We are never Getting Back Together came, the atmosphere completely changed - I swear the floor was going to break! It went CRAZY with us all moving from our seats to directly in front of the screen. People were taking selfies with Taylor in the background, some people took accessories .
It was the BEST way to introduce my child to a gig.
The atmosphere was electric.

EmmaEmerald · 16/10/2023 02:00

So those who found it sedate, I don't suppose any of you are in London or Essex? Have reusable cup, will travel 😂

Melonhead89 · 16/10/2023 05:13

@EmmaEmerald we went in the end and have 3 cups - London if that helps 🤣

My DD's went Friday - very empty showing as cinema only announced it late so most people booked elsewhere. Mostly people mouthing words. Also no merch at that chain so ended up driving to a Vue to buy cups. Tbh they probably shouldn't sell them to anyone as loads on eBay. My friend at cineworld has to show tickets to buy merch and then also was t allowed to pick up any after even with tickets (I had asked her to grab me two cups)

We are going to the US for half term and I had booked in for there as it hadn't been announced here at the time. Looking forward to seeing if it's a different experience.
