The sound of the ocean. The breeze blowing through the trees. Listening to rain outside the window when in bed. Swimming in a beautiful pool, the perfect temperature at night.

Everybody I love being reasonably happy and well more often than not.

But that's not possible. Just like heaven.

In bed all day long, by myself, with a selection box.

stayathomer · 09/10/2023 12:42

House insanely clean and all family over (neither will ever happen😉). Sitting on the beach. A good board game night with the kids.

A fast car with a full tank of fuel

Laid on a beautiful beach listening to the waves at sunset

IHeartGeneHunt · 09/10/2023 12:44

On the beach with my daughter and dog, not too hot, nice breeze.

That feeling when you've resigned from you job and you walk out the door for the last time thinking, I never have to set foot in this place ever again.

(Then you start a new job on Monday and it's just as shit as the last one, but for those few days in between you are truly free 😂)

Lying in blazing sunshine. Beach not necessary

Justmemyselfandi999 · 09/10/2023 12:45

Walking / sitting in a forest.

Azaeleasinbloom · 09/10/2023 12:51

Warm, sunny day. Empty-ish beach. Swimming in the waves with my dogs.

Generally can put together 2 or those 3. In Scotland, so you can guess which bit we miss…

yearofthebuttercup · 09/10/2023 12:52

Lying on the sofa with my cat purring on top of me, preferrably with a glass of wine nearby and something great on TV.
A walk in beautiful woods.
Christmas lunch
A really fun party with good company and great chat.

Being retired.

Traveling - everything from researching hotels to having experiences, staying nin nice hotels and discovering new landscapes, culture, traditions etc. I'm happiest when I'm cycle touring for weeks on end by myself with only a tent and a cook stove and the world being my oyster.

The relief of pain immediately after giving birth.

I remember about 10 years dropping off my car at a countryside garage near my work at the time. I had no transport so decided to just find somewhere to sit for a while. Wondered for a few minute and found a field and just lay on the bank overlooking it. No people or buildings in sight, it was warm and sunny with a gentle breeze, no sound but the trees and grass rustling. I remember even in the moment thinking how perfect it was.

I think about it a lot now when I'm elbow deep in the kids laundry or get in the car after school drop off and pause for a moment for a breath. It has reiterated appreciating the little pleasures.

We've booked all inclusive to lazearote for Christmas so fingers crossed that'll be a new winner but with two small children it might be a different kind of happiness.

Walk along our local beach with Ddog to blow the cobwebs away followed by coffee and ginger biscuit at the cafe!

A good hug

I totally second this. I lost my beloved gran in April and while my family are fine, they don’t do emotions, tears, affection. Love is shown more ‘practically’ let’s say. Anyway, about a month after her funeral the lovely lady vicar met with me for a walk/coffee, and she gave me the biggest, warmest hug and out of nowhere I just sobbed in her arms probably for 30 minutes, pure sweet relief after bottling it up for so long.

Timeforabiscuit · 09/10/2023 18:37

I'm so sorry you lost your gran @Mariposista , I've had those hugs from people too ❤️.

@Timeforabiscuit thanks. I hadn’t- that’s what made it so powerful! I’ve not forgotten it.
