To think hundreds of thousands of grown men are walking around in superhero underpants

I was in Asda the other day and noticed a large proportion of men’s underwear seems to be decorated with novelty designs like Star Wars, Spongebob and The Avengers (Iron Man, not Mrs Peel).

Presumably lots of people are buying these or there wouldn't be so many of them.

Do you think there's a correlation with the men who wear those “amusing” ties too?

Mine had Rudolph ones on the other day! Told him it was a bit early 😅

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 07/10/2023 13:14

Life's too short to feel judged for novelty pants. I don't see the issue.

At what point does our underwear have to grow up?

I presume these grown men aren't going to work in capes.

minou123 · 07/10/2023 13:15

What's the issue?

StBrides · 07/10/2023 13:17

Oh I do hope so!

theduchessofspork · 07/10/2023 13:17

I hope there are, it would mean their inner selves are little boys wearing capes

Sunplant · 07/10/2023 13:18

I should imagine there is absolutely no correlation between superhero pants and comedy ties.

GoingToBeLessRubbishAtLife · 07/10/2023 13:18

I’d buy cartoon ones for myself if I saw any!

ClassicCremeAnglaise · 07/10/2023 13:19

I can't say I ever tried to picture the kind of underwear worn by a man when I am talking to him

ZombiePara · 07/10/2023 13:19

I mean, I used to buy these for my exDP... and he wore them. Along with a rather nice and bright fruit set from Next.

No different to wearing sexy underwear under formal work gear for women surely?

Just a bit of hidden fun!

smilesup · 07/10/2023 13:20

I imagine all men that wear comedy ties have superhero or similar pants but not all people that have superhero pants wear comedy ties.

Istanbulnotconstantinople72 · 07/10/2023 13:20

Asda do superhero pants for women too. I'm 38 and my knickers have batman on them as we speak.

Becles · 07/10/2023 13:20

What's wrong with that? Good on the men mature enough to embrace a bit of fun and quirkiness in their lives.

Blokes need more colour and ability to express themselves or.just remember the fun parts of their childhoods these days.

PuttingDownRoots · 07/10/2023 13:21

They're pants.
The thought process is probably...
"Somebody has bought me novelty pants. They fulfill the function of pants. Therefore I will wear them"

Might be useful when faced with a bully though. Our grandmothers' recommendation after all was to picture them in an old-fashioned men's nightskirt.

Emmalin · 07/10/2023 13:22

Dress for the job you want, they say. Some men want to be Batman. 👍

Deathbyfluffy · 07/10/2023 13:23

Man here - I don’t own either a comedy tie or superhero underpants.
A large portion of women’s underwear is designed to be ‘sexy’, I wonder if there’s a correlation between this and them owning a silly hat?

NeverAloneNeverAgain · 07/10/2023 13:26

Definitely no correlation in novelty pants and ties in this house. The only tie DH has ever worn since school was when we got married and it was a very demure plan one.

I regularly buy cartoon underwear for him he's currently wearing batman ones. It helps me distinguish who's are who when I iron! DH has batman and simpsons, DS1 has Rick and morty and sesame Street, DS2 has a range of fast food ones! They all wear same size so just having lots of large plain boxers would be a nightmare!

Mudflaps · 07/10/2023 13:26

I'm 52 and have spiderman knickers on today. Husband thinks it's hilarious. They came with a vest top but spiderman looks like he's eaten a whole melon when I wear it

GasPanic · 07/10/2023 13:27

Not sure what's worse. You thinking about other peoples pants or me thinking about you thinking about other peoples pants.

Is life not far too short to be ironing underwear?

Needmorelego · 07/10/2023 13:30

I wish women's pants were as interesting.
T-shirts too. Blokes get the cool ones with pictures on. Women get ones with "live your best life" slogans or they are weird shapes.

I'm one of those weirdos that likes ironing 🤣 they fit in drawers better when ironed and I like that I start with a messy ironing pile and end up with neatly folded piles. It feels like a win in my very chaotic life! I iron tea towels. Really baffles majority of my friends!

Needmorelego · 07/10/2023 13:36

@Shadyboots23 interesting style!
