Can't wait to tune into this week's conference for the next desperate attempts at gaslighting and catchy slogans...

Sorry that should have read 'going to' not foing U.K.!

Yes I love the way he is saving us from all the things no one was planning to do any way.

Fightyouforthatpie · 02/10/2023 13:11

We are so lucky to have a PM to save us from non-existent things whilst refusing to answer any questions at all about the HS2 his government promised. What could possibly go wrong?

Flickersy · 02/10/2023 13:14

It's so fucking tone deaf to describe traffic calming measures or speed limits as a "war". What they mean is "I'm going to spit my dummy out because I can't do whatever I want with no consequences".

If they want an actual war they could go and volunteer in Ukraine.

GCAcademic · 02/10/2023 13:14

And they have banned the use of mobile phones in schools! Which weren't allowed to be used anyway.

The stench of pre-election desperation is strong indeed.

Goodornot · 02/10/2023 13:15

Enjoy Starmers tax hikes for all ...

GrannypantsMagee · 02/10/2023 13:18

Let's just forget everything in the past 13 years, all the sleaze that's still going on, and that we will soon have to rely exclusively on some bloke down the pub for healthcare advice. Thank god, the war on motorists is finally over and we can all celebrate! Can't afford to fill up said car, but it'll make a cosy home when the mortgage becomes unaffordable. Woohoo!

Unfortunately, the country has to pay for those billions of pounds on COVID contracts for Boris' mates somehow.

Edit: and I don't see that we'll be getting that £350m a week Brexit bonus any time soon more's the pity.

maybewhoknows · 02/10/2023 13:19

Car drivers are such a persecuted minority. Thank god the WAR against them will soon be over. I was worried they might become extinct by 2030.

Just as a point of fact, according to this House of Commons research, taxes are currently at their highest level since the 1980s. Which is when Margaret Thatcher was PM.

That said, I am happy to pay tax, but would prefer it to be better spent than I am seeing at the moment.

Yes. Rishi has already had to raise tax because of the billions we are losing per year because of the tories bumbling out of the single market.

And taxation, both as a proportion of GDP and in cash value, increased over the term of the Thatcher government.

Does anyone remember the cones hotline.

These new announcements remind me of this

beAsensible1 · 02/10/2023 13:25

don't forget 15 minute cities, he will be banning basic amenities and healthcare being within a 15 minute walk.

A WIN FOR FREEDOM!!

Fififafa · 02/10/2023 13:26

As seen on Politics Live earlier…
Jo Coburn "Rishi Sunak says he's ending the war on motorists. Why have you been waging a war on motorists for the last 13 years?"
Andrea Leadsom "That's not the case"
Jo Coburn "Well, what is it your ending then?"
The Tories are a joke. Bring on the general election!

What? Have you been living under a rock? We currently have the largest tax burden we have ever had. In case you weren’t aware, the Conservatives have been in power for 13 years .

bombastix · 02/10/2023 13:30

I have some new press on policies.

Microchips for truants
Free school meals for dogs
Compulsory maths in utero
Benefits claimants to donate blood if they don't secure work
Pensioners to receive special gold plated bootees for winter

Changes17 · 02/10/2023 13:31

Maths in utero - well it's obvious now you say it. That's just where we've been going wrong.

Yes - it was wank.
And the public sector "charter mark" for service - awarded to DVLA - what a joke.

Bombastix for Prime Minister!!

This sounds like a scene from The Thick of It where they have to frantically come up with a new policy on the way to a press conference because they've just been told to cancel the policy they are about to announce.

It's all scarily accurate.

Will they be worse than 13 years of Tory tax rises and declining services?

GasPanic · 02/10/2023 13:36

You can't really drive round estates at much more than 20 anyway unless you want to end up in an accident.

Slaloming round cars, avoiding pedestrians who basically are now conditioned not to even look, traffic calming and cyclists that don't follow the rules of the road and swerve all over the place without even looking.
