To find Laura Kuenssberg so annoying

I can't stand Rishi Sunak, but she doesn't stop interrupting and then you can't hear what either of them are trying to say. It's gone on for months now. How is she still doing this? I'm sure she's been in trouble for it in the past. It drives me mad. Just let the guest finish making their point.

YANBU, I can't bear the woman, she's incredibly disrespectful of almost everyone she interviews by continually interrupting and not allowing them to get their point across.

Pumpkinpie1 · 01/10/2023 09:40

She was proved to be biased and manipulative but yet her right wing buddies have kept her on to spew bile. The bbc is no longer capable of telling news not ring wing spin

TheChosenTwo · 01/10/2023 09:42

I can’t stand the majority of any news interviews at the moment for the same reasons, they seem to just want to argue. It’s really tiresome.

Longtalljosie · 01/10/2023 09:42

If you interview a politician live on air, you have to interrupt them. The points they make which are questionable, they package in other points so if you wait for them to come to a natural pause, the half-truth is five minutes ago and it’s all but impossible to pull it back. They are media-trained to do this.

Thisismynewusername1 · 01/10/2023 09:44

First I heard of her was that incident in Leeds where she tried to rile up something or other.

eta: googled and she claimed a labour activist had “punched” a Tory someone or other.

then video turned up and the “activist” had been waving his arm around and the Tory wasn’t looking where he was going and walked into it 😂

EasternStandard · 01/10/2023 09:46

Radio interrupters drive me crazy

R4 is so bad for it

Thisismynewname123 · 01/10/2023 09:50

@Longtalljosie yes, agreed, but other interviewers seem to manage it without the same level of shouting over the interviewee. I much preferred Sunday mornings with Andrew Marr who was much warmer.

Maybe but I never hear interviewers asking anything but the same predicable angry questions. Which politicians have an answer to.
Laura doesn’t get anything extra out of the interviews.

SymbolicSymbals · 01/10/2023 09:54

Yeah, it is a little annoying. Ask a question, let them answer. Ask another question. Otherwise it just sounds like an argument down the pub with everyone talking on top of one another.

stonedaisy · 01/10/2023 10:01

Disagree i think shes inspirational

emmylousings · 01/10/2023 10:08

I used to like Andrew Marr on Sunday, he is less combative. The Kunsberg show is all shallow little bits, too much crammed in, no depth. Weirdly, the BBC seem to think that this is what viewers want.
I get nearly all my politics from podcasts these days, where the conversation and analysis seems more nuanced and less fighty.

sashagabadon · 01/10/2023 10:09

Today show is terrible for this , never lets the politicians speak so whole interview wasted time. There was one yesterday about hs2, utterly waste of time, I learnt nothing .

Muststopeating · 01/10/2023 10:12

You say it's disrespectful... but when was the last time she got to interview a politician worthy of any respect?

hopeishere · 01/10/2023 10:15

But they don't answer. They will give an answer that they want to in order to make themselves look good. So you have to press them to actually answer the question because it's probably about something they don't want to admit to.

Vriddle · 01/10/2023 10:21

The problem is not LK. It's politicians refusing to answer questions on policies their own government put in place.

LisaD1 · 01/10/2023 10:22

I cannot stand her and will turn off anything she’s on. I don’t know why she gets so much air time.

ssd · 01/10/2023 10:30

I bet she gets the tories autographs off stage she's such a fangirl

Notlaughingalot · 01/10/2023 10:31

Agree. She's incredible.

lljkk · 01/10/2023 11:06

LK got villified (nasty stalkers on Twitter) in 2015-2021 for letting BJ say too much and not challenging him enough. I thought she challenged him plenty but she wasn't aggressive about it (what I think her stalkers wanted).

Then she gets criticised here for "interrupting" as in "making them answer the question she asked not the question they wanted her to ask."

Can't win, can she.

I can't hear LK interviewing in a way that doesn't sound like words that Amol Rajan, Caroline Quinn, Nick Robinson or even Andrew Neill would say, too.

If you want shallow-too-superficial-flighty interviews, try Peston's show.

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2023 11:42

Fault on both sides really.

I guess if people being interviewed answered the actual questions asked and kept them succinct and to the point they wouldn't be interrupted.

The fact Sunak is terrible at being interviewed probably doesn't help the whole situation but I thought LK did a very good job at highlighting that today.

User135644 · 01/10/2023 11:53

Can't stand her shoddy journalism and Tory sympathising but Sunak never answers the question (not watching this so don't know about today). The interviewer can't just let the politician waffle on without answering the question.

smallshinybutton · 01/10/2023 11:57

As long as your dislike isn't rooted in sexism sure you're not unreasonable to find her interview technique annoying.

I think you have a different definition of 'proved' to everyone else. People like you are why Labour struggle to win elections.

I can’t stand her face. I do not bother to watch any of it.
