Eating egg sandwiches on a crowded train should be a criminal offence!

FFS we're crammed like sardines into a hermetically sealed tube with no air flow, it's hotter than hell, there's a child WHISTLING while the parents smile indulgently - that's been going on for a good 20 minutes - the "trolley service of drinks and light refreshments" has run out of coffee, and now some rancid cunt has opened an egg sandwich and the whole place stinks like a festival toilet. I hate travelling in this country. Hate it.

A particularly inconsiderate colleague microwaved mackerel in the office kitchen microwave where I used to work. The kitchen was immediately next to the reception area, which reeked for hours. Said colleague got very upset when the poor receptionist who had to work in it complained about the smell.

I accidentally made egg mayo this morning so will put it in a sandwich later on. I promise I won't go anywhere near a train though, and living in Yorkshire, I'm nowhere near the underground!

I'm just here to find out how you accidentally made egg mayonnaise.

Zebedee55 · 29/09/2023 17:11

Egg sandwiches are fine. Anything like a kebab or with any spices in it, should result in the person being thrown under the train/bus...🥴

No one needs to eat on public transport, except small children or perhaps if you're on a sleeper train.

On an eight hour coach journey, you're damned right I'm eating my lunch on it at some point (cold, obviously).

RaraRachael · 29/09/2023 17:36

Spicy foods or fried chicken are preferable to hen's farts 🤮

ShutTheDoorBabe · 29/09/2023 17:37

@LittleGreenDuck and @MysweetAudrina I was meant to make soft boiled eggs. I had my soldiers lined up, buttered with salt and pepper, ready, but hadn't realised I'd forgotten to turn the air fryer temperature down and hard boiled them instead. Not wanting to waste them, I made an impromptu egg mayo whilst waiting for some new eggs to cook at the correct temperature to dip the soldiers in.

Mmmmmm, I fancy an egg mayo sandwich now!

With a pinch of curry powder in the mix.

Robbiesraft · 29/09/2023 17:39

I will only eat egg mayo sandwiches at home for this reason. Tasty though. Egg would be a good way to hide a smelly fart on a packed train. I imagine.

Omg I was following your line of logic until you said you were boiling eggs in an air fryer. I had no idea you could airfry a boiled egg.

Yea you just warm it up to 120°C (not 200 like I did by mistake) and then cook the eggs for 7-8 minutes for lovely dippy eggs.

@JudgeJ

I’m Asian and egg mayo sandwiches for me are an English food 😂 I can’t imagine adding curry powder in the mix!

ALongHardWinter · 29/09/2023 18:19

I agree it's unpleasant but I'd rather put with that than have a toddler screaming the entire journey!

I am not sure any of us are serious about it being a crime, more that it can be really, really, really annoying!?

Places where it is a crime have such lovely, clean, non pungent trains though!

slithytoveisascientist · 29/09/2023 20:57

Since we are talking about smell

I'm at the muse concert

Two people in front of me keep dancing and head banging with arms up

They STINK

Eye watering stench.

I'm gutted tbh as it's really spoiling the concert and this was bucket list

Starlightstarbright2 · 29/09/2023 21:59

Since you posted you were squeezed in like sardines - I did think sardine sandwiches would be worse 🫣🤣

Doyouthinktheyknow · 29/09/2023 22:13

Can’t bear egg sandwiches, don’t know how anyone can eat them. The smell is beyond awful!

Tuna is also rank. Can eat tuna (not on a train) but the smell is nasty. Can’t eat egg mayo! Don’t know how anyone can!

It's very good though, wasn't the buzz word 'fusion food' a few years back? Only talking about a tiny pinch, not a tablespoon!

Ergh egg and tuna both stink - also cheese and onion crisps Confused

Tayto Cheese and Onion crisps literally the breath of Beelzebub.

TroysMammy · 29/09/2023 22:40

A few years ago a woman got on the train at Slough, sat next to me and proceeded to eat homemade egg, cheese and onion sandwiches. I'm sure she could have waited to eat them as the train terminated in Paddington. Evil cow.

New member of staff microwaved an incredibly stinky spicy fish dish in the staff room...which is next to the clinic rooms which stunk mightily all afternoon. .management removed the microwave and all of us have to eat cold food at lunchtime now.

We used to hold Departmental meetings in my classroom at lunchtime and I banned one of my young teachers from bringing her Pot Noodles into the meeting, awful smell! One parent complained to the Head that her precious didn't like the smell of coffee so I shouldn't have it in my room at lunchtime or before school.
