It shouldn’t be this hard to find Halloween costumes!

I need 3x costumes for my little boy, 2 year old. All the costumes I’ve seen are either peppy pig/ coco melon (hate, hate, hate!) or actually scary looking - which I find inappropriate for a baby.

Spam me with your Halloween costume ideas please! 👻🎃🧛

Are these too scary?
Ghost - sheet/ white cloth with holes cut out for eyes.
Vampire - black cloak, white face paint.
Witch - as above, with pointy hat - make one out of cardboard.
Black cat - all black clothing, make a tail and pointy ears, draw on whiskers with face paint.

3 Halloween costumes? For a 2 year old? Can't he just wear the same one 3 times?

And you'll find loads of ideas for DIY costumes on the internet, don't bother spending ££ on them!

Fistralstorm · 28/09/2023 09:38

A 2 year old though...

Monkeymonkeymoo · 28/09/2023 09:40

Sainsburys always does nice ones for that age (age appropriate and cute, some character costumes but plenty that aren’t): https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/list/shop-toddler-and-baby-costumes?tag=tu:events:halloween:shop-toddler-and-baby-costumes
This is lovely and definitely not scary: https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc142867363 (you just need some black leggings to go with it)

I find Tescos often have a good selection too.

This dragon/dinosaur costume is cute: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1159131748/baby-toddler-dragon-fancy-dress-costume?click_key=4c5c8a653492e9ae14ffd0850b4cfb776ddeac7a%3A1159131748&click_sum=c6fd4d6b&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=toddler+halloween+costumes&ref=sr_gallery-2-29&sts=1

He could wear the same outfit assuming he doesn’t get his clothes dirty at nursery - which he does 99% of time time. I wouldn’t have time to get them washed/ dried for the next day because of my shifts.

I’ll need to check my mums face painting skills for nursery mornings!

Don't know why I didn’t look at Sainsbury’s their clothes are so cute! Love the jumper!

He could be a cute little pumpkin🎃

Joopy · 28/09/2023 10:37

Have a look on vinted.

Vexxa · 28/09/2023 10:37

There are lots of costumes available on Vinted too 😊

ProseccoBee · 28/09/2023 10:42

Sainsburys or home bargains

Lindy2 · 28/09/2023 11:20

I see quite a few pumpkin outfits that look cute.

I'm intrigued as to why a 2 year old needs more than 1 Halloween outfit though. It is OK to wear the same one more than once. In fact the more times it's worn the better because it won't fit next Halloween.

Tk max Does a fantastic dragon one

InTheRainOnATrain · 28/09/2023 11:30

Are 3 costumes really necessary?!
But pumpkin, dragaon, black cat, skelton (usually sold as PJs but they’re black joggers with a long sleeved top so can definitely be worn out), just a halloween themed jumper for nursery with normal bottoms, I saw a mickey mouse vampire one that’s quite cute in asda…

EaudeJavel · 28/09/2023 11:33

When pretty much all the supermarkets have age-appropriate costumes, and so have Next, H&M and the likes, I am a bit confused WHERE you even looked in the first place?

You just google toddler costume, and you also have the list of party shops, etsy and so on. They are everywhere, and rarely scary looking for that age-group

TeapotCollection · 28/09/2023 11:35

Give it a couple of weeks it’s not even October yet

TheWayTheLightFalls · 28/09/2023 11:40

Ask on a local FB group / marketplace for 2nd hand stuff

face paint - cat/tiger/harry potter

alice band - attach cat or teddy ears

binoculars - David Attenborough

At 2, especially if it’s just for nursery, you really don’t need to spend ££££.

Fallingthroughclouds · 28/09/2023 12:31

I can't help you. My daughter and her friend are dressing up as creepy dolls going around asking people "Do you wanna plaaayyyy" in a seriously blood chilling manner. 🤣

It shouldn’t be this hard to find Halloween costumes!
TerfTalking · 28/09/2023 12:36

three?

Here's one that he can wear three times

Pumpkin

GallowwayGirl88 · 28/09/2023 12:41

He needs 3 outfits because I won’t have time to wash and dry his clothes after nursery for the next day. We also have a few other things on that week that we’re dressing up for.
Im not a fan of skeleton/ vampires and he doesn’t watch tv so character costumes seem a bit silly to me too.

Ive never bought of vinted before, but I’ve had a look and they have some cute stuff!

I was asking for recommendations because I don’t want to spent a fortune on something that will only be worn a couple of times, rather than spending money on something that comes and is crap quality.

Amazon have shed loads of really cute costumes for toddlers

cathcath2 · 28/09/2023 15:46

Try your local charity shops as well. Our Barnardo's has three rails full.

LlynTegid · 28/09/2023 15:56

Perhaps think about fewer things that week, he is only two. I'm sure he won't think he is deprived or missing out.

Isseywith3witchycats · 28/09/2023 15:57

another vote for look in your local charity shops the one i work in has bags full of halloween stuff donated about a week after halloween and we store it to sell just before halloween the next year
