To ask how many times per week your child goes straight home to their house after school?

Because mine hardly ever do. Once per month maybe if I have an afternoon WFH. Just wondered how common this was?

How old? Since covid I've wfh so primary aged they come straight home. Year 6 I'd get a quick "I'm off to the park " yelled in from the front door as they passed. Now y7 and y4 and they both come straight home aside from 1 day a week they do a school sports club.

Strawberryfieldsforeverrr · 26/09/2023 16:14

Mine go to after school care once a week if that's what you mean?

InDubiousBattle · 26/09/2023 16:16

Every day for most of the school year. They sometimes do an after school activity for a half term and my ds used to have a permanent after school sport but it's been closed due to crumbly concrete so at the moment it's every day.

twosday · 26/09/2023 16:29

Mine is in Year 1. She comes straight home on one day. The other days she has an after school activity (2 on site and 2 I take her to). Last year she had activities 5 days a week, but she wasn't keen on the activity on offer this year. Sometimes we'll go to the park instead of going straight home.

Your Op makes no sense. More context required.

cocksstrideintheevening · 26/09/2023 16:31

Mine come straight home and then go out again three times a week, twice riding and once to guides.

museumum · 26/09/2023 16:31

Every Friday.
mon - Thursday they’re not home till 5:30 or later.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/09/2023 16:33

Every day- the only activity on a weekday is dance and it’s two hrs after they get home.
SAHM dad is around- kids are 6 and nearly 3

3 days a week ish, but on 1 of those days they go back out to an activity.

calyxx · 26/09/2023 16:35
  1. Always, straight home, curtains drawn and lie down on bed.
BookSuperWorm · 26/09/2023 16:39

My 7yo DS comes straight home with a parent once a week. The other days are a mixture of after school club, grandparents. Also has some clubs in there too that the g'parents ferry him to (swimming, football).

BoohooWoohoo · 26/09/2023 16:41

My teen comes straight home then often goes out again. He never goes out socially with his school bag.
Once it gets colder, he'll start going out less.

BooAutumniscoming · 26/09/2023 16:48

Rarely as me and DH are at work when they finish school.

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/09/2023 16:50

Not clear what you’re asking. Straight home from school 4 days a week. After school activity at school one day a week and straight home from that.

Everydayimhuffling · 26/09/2023 16:52

2 days a week as that's when I'm not working. Too young to be at home while DP WFH, so she's in after school care the other 3 days. I imagine by the end of primary she'll be able to occupy herself at home until he finishes some days.

BeMoreBarbie · 26/09/2023 16:55

It's a good thing isn't it? Assuming you mean kids that are old enough to do something after school? DD is year 7 and for the last two/three years if the weather has been good, I'll get a text saying she is going to the park with her friends. I love when this happens as it means she is enjoying herself.

I'm also happy when she comes home but worry that it means something has happened.

Spacecowboys · 26/09/2023 16:56

Dc never goes straight home from school- year 11.

Crunchymum · 26/09/2023 16:58

DC are 10, 8 and 5yo.

Once a week for my youngest two (they go to in-laws x3 afternoons and have an activity on the 4th day, straight home once per week). Oldest DC goes to in-laws x3 afternoons a week, comes to the girls activity with us on the 4th day and does some homework and has his own activity on the 5th day.

Justdontforgethelegofrog · 26/09/2023 16:58

Sorry I meant I that as I work they never get to come home to their own house at 3.30 and I feel guilty.

One goes to the gym and then comes home now they're older. Used to come straight home until relatively recently Other one comes straight home every day.

Rosiiee · 26/09/2023 17:01

Think it’s quite common for kids to go to afterschool? Most of DS’s class does and he does until 4pm everyday, except Monday when I pick him up at 3 and we go to karate.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 26/09/2023 17:01

Every day. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday he has activities later in the evening but not straight after school. Our school doesn’t offer an after school club for childcare purposes. There are after school activity clubs a couple of days a week but they only run for part of the year. We live rurally so few childcare options around so almost all children go straight home from school or to extended family. Due to this pretty much every family either has a part time working member or work shifts.

Lioney · 26/09/2023 17:02

Mine come straight home every day.

soberfabulous · 26/09/2023 17:07

Mine comes straight home every single day.
